D: I can’t do this anymore?
A: Do what, Doomerella?
D: This, all of it, everything. No one is fighting for us, we’re on our own and I can’t, I can’t do it!
A: Okay, okay, I get it.
D: Do you really? Cause your happy-go-lucky isn’t gonna work today.
A: I’m never happy-go-lucky, I’m just as scared and angry as you, for the record.
D: Doubt it.
A: Okay, that’s fine, doubt all you want, but I am. I’m terrified by what’s happening, but who would voicing that help? Look the only way we get out of this is by fighting back, and recognizing those in power who are fighting back too.
D: Right, like who?
A: Brad Schneider defended trans service members from Tim Burchett’s attacks in the Foreign Affairs Committee Hearing this week. Here, watch
D: Isn’t he like….super moderate?
A: Mhm. It’s almost like supporting trans people is a red line for most Dems in Congress.
D: Most?
A: Yes, Doomerella, most. Red lines take a while to fully cultivate, but hearing someone like Schneider say this? I don’t think we’re all that far away.
D: Fine, whatever, I guess it matters, what else you got?
A: Rosa Delauro filed a discharge petition to fund TSA and other agencies under DHS
D: ICE?
A: No, not ICE, Republicans want to fund ICE, even further than they already did with the big ugly bill. This would fund everything but. Here, listen to what she said
D: Where is this?
A: Leader Jeffries called a press conference on the Capitol steps in support of her bill.
D: Oh, this is the Jeffries thing everyone’s making fun of?
A: Unfortunately.
D: But it’s not even Jeffries thing, right?
A: Right, but on top of people shitting on Jeffries for amplifying this, Delauro isn’t getting credit either. It’s really just a frustrating cycle.
D: Couldn’t they just—
A: Yeah, they could do better on social media, for sure, though the Jeffries problem isn’t about social media, people just don’t like him on principal.
D: Well, he’s useless.
A: Is he though?
D: No comment. Okay, what else?
A: Remember the Jan 6 Plaque?
D: The piece of paper various Dems put up outside their doors?
A: No, the actual real tangible plaque.
D: That exists?
A: On the Senate side.
D: how?
A: In january Jeff Merkley and Thom Tillis got unanimous passage of the resolution
D: That did not happen on the House side.
A: No, no it did not. But House Dems, like Frank Pallone, are celebrating it anyway, here, watch.
D: If it’s so many House Dems, why single out Pallone?
A: Back in June he led the entire Democratic New Jersey delegation in putting the paper outside their offices. Other members followed suit.
D: Will it ever be put up on the House side?
A: As long as Johnson is Speaker, absolutely not. But, if we vote, Jeffries should be Speaker soon, and then it absolutely will.
D: Oh goody, Speaker Jeffries….yay.
A: Well, if you talk like that then him failing is pretty much a self fulfilling prophecy.
D: Whatever, what else?
A: House Oversight Committee Dems walked out of the “hearing” with Pam Bondi
D: Why the quotes?
A: Republicans didn’t want her to be under oath, so she could pretty much say whatever she wanted.
D: What the f—???
A: Exactly. Suhas Subramanyam did a great job explaining it all
D: Jesus! Well, good on the Dems for walking out of that shit show.
A: Oh, you want to give them credit now?
D: Well, I mean it’s still the bare minimum, but it could have been worse.
A: Is it the bare minimum? What would have been the maximum, exactly?
D: I….
A: Yes?
D: I don’t know, I guess.
A: Oh really?
D: Look, it’s their job to figure it out, it’s my job to just complain.
A: That’s not how it….whatever, at least you’re admitting that they are doing some good things.
D: Yeah, I guess, cause seeing it all laid out like this, it’s easier to see how this might, maybe, probably be fighting back.
A: glad you’re seeing that.
A: And that’s today’s Doomerella Gets Schooled. Our Dems are fighting back every single day. And hopefully we can get them into the majority, in the House at least, to fight back even harder.
