Democrats are in the minority in Congress. I hope you know that.
And in the minority they don’t have much leverage. But they can talk. And my god are they. But it’s our job to take their words and amplify them, and that where things are breaking down.
So here are some of my favorite Dems talking that deserve to be amplified this week. I promise, this IS fighting back.

D: What?
A: Wait, did I wake you?
D: Yeah. I was having this wonderful dream where Kamala Harris was president and she had just signed into law a national book ban ban…and you’re here, so, I take it it’s not real.
A: Sorry to be the barer of bad news. But our Dems are doing good work.
D: Not good enough!
A: We aren’t in the majority!
D: And if we were?
A: The bills the Dems are trying to pass would actually…well, pass.
D: yeah? Like what?
A: Like George Latimer’s new bill The Point Act
D: What does that stand for?
A: The Protecting Our Integrity and Nation from Tyranny,
D: Okay and what does that even mean?
A: It’s about elections
D: Right…
A: Here, watch this
D: I still don’t know what it does
A: You would it you watched the whole video, but whatever. The bill would create a legal definition for election interference and states that if you, including the federal government, participates, you would go to prison.
D: That’s it?
A: It would also create a pathway for legal pathways for states that feels like they’re experiencing interference
D: Anything else?
A: The president cannot use military force or federal law enforcement (like ICE) to interfere in elections
D: Great, but that can’t pass.
A: It could if we were in the majority.
D: But we’re not.
A: Yes, Doomerella, that was literally my point.
D: So what can Dems do NOW?
A: Talk.
D: Great! [heavy sarcasm]
A: Yes, Great! Their strongest power right now is in their words. Watch Dina TItus take down State Department Undersecretary Sarah Rogers in a Foreign Affairs Committee hearing
D: She couldn’t have been more sarcastic
A: No, no she couldn’t have. It made me smile, I don’t know about you.
D: Yeah, I guess, but what does that to?
A: Well, if the video spreads, it gives people who maybe don’t pay attention to politics the opportunity to see the absurdity of this war. And how the administration is talking about it.
D: But, what does that DO?
A: Hopefully it gets people to get loud. Remember WE have more power than our Congressional Democrats right now.
D: yeah, yeah, you say that every week.
A: It’s true every week. Look at Brendan Boyle, he also talks about Iran, but he focuses on gas prices
D: It will go HIGHER? It’s already out of my price range!
A: And wouldn’t it be great if more people knew this?
D: YES!
A: And your reaction shows that Boyle’s message works.
D: Well yeah, he gave a personal example, it felt real.
A: Exactly, it’s the power of good messaging.
D: But I thought…
A: That Dems suck at messaging, I know, but maybe that’s not as true as you thought.
D: Yeah….I take it you have another example?
A: I do. Senator Angela Alsobrooks joined other Dem members of Congress at the ICE facility in Baltimore.
D: They’re still trying to get in?
A: In many places they are getting in. And in Maryland, a judge ruled that there are too many people being held and they’re being held for too long. Based on her visit, conditions, have not gotten better. Here, watch.
D: Unfit to house animals???
A: That’s what she said.
D: Why isn’t this video spreading?
A: [Glares]
D: Okay okay, right, I forgot.
A: You often do.
D: So this is our power when we’re not in the majority?
A: No, this is THEIR power, but we, as Americans have SO much more power, so use it.
