You're Being Lied To
How Democrats ARE fighting back.
You’re being lied to.
Everywhere you look, you’re being told that Democrats aren’t doing the work, they’re not fighting back, not making noise.
But that’s just not true.
And the only people this assumption helps are Republicans, Trump, and David Ellison.
Are there some Dems who don’t do the right thing? Sure there are. But there are some Republicans who do do the right thing, and we don’t support Republicans because of those few.
So why do we throw out all Dems when only a handful are sometimes the problem?
Democrats’ unpopularity is what keeps Republicans in power. So let’s change the narrative.
Instead of focusing on the screw ups, let’s focus on what’s going right.
For instance Rep Mark Takano (CA-39) chairs the Equality Caucus.
And he talked about trans students at the Hands off Our Schools press conference earlier this month.
And it’s not just him. This entire press conference was against a hearing Republicans held to question Chicago Public Schools on their respect for trans students.
They were literally called down to DC to defend treating students with dignity.
Democrats didn’t have the power to stop this hearing, but they had the power to hold this press conference, and that’s what they did.
And it wasn’t just Rep Takano. It was Rep Summer Lee (PA-12) and of course members of the Chicago congressional delegation including Reps Delia Ramirez (IL-03), Chuy Garcia (IL-04) and Mike Quigley (IL-05).
This is doing something. This is what Dems can do.
People say “hold press conferences.”
They are.
But maybe that’s not your main concern. That’s okay, there are a lot of struggles to go around and we can’t all cover all of them. Maybe your focus is the climate crisis.
I mean, god, things are bad out there. And they’re just getting worse. Every day it seems like there’s another post saying we’ve passed the point of no return.
It’s hard not to feel hopeless when you’re bombarded with that.
And it’s easy to believe the people who say Dems aren’t doing anything to help either.
Despair is easy to accept, the fact that change isn’t immediate, especially when we’re in the minority, isn’t.
So you probably didn’t see that Sen Jeff Merkley (OR) posted THREE bills he’s introduced to help combat the climate crisis.
Or maybe you did see that, but didn’t think much of it.
Here’s what caught my eye — he frames it about energy costs, because, you and I pay closer attention when we hear “climate crisis” but some people across the country, including in Oregon, might not listen if they hear that buzz phrase.
See what I mean? Everyone can agree that energy prices are too high the rest is slipped in, like vegetables you might not want to eat.
The three bills covered are:
Three bills introduced to lower your energy bill AND slow down the climate crisis.
But we’re not in the majority.
We definitely don’t have the presidency.
We’re not gonna pass these bills.
So they look like failures.
Here’s the thing, introducing a bill, workshopping it in committee, that’s an important part of the process, and that can and is happening no matter who is in office.
So, now you have two new stories to share when you hear someone say Dems don’t care.
Your voice is your superpower, but only when you use it.
Ready to use it?
This is the text version of my new YouTube series “You’re Being Lied To.”
If you just want to read, that’s fine, but it helps me a lot if you watch too and follow me on YouTube while you’re at it. Just have it on in the background if you don’t want to actively watch it. That’s totally fine.

That's because so many people have made careers lying about the democrats for so long that at this point it's too late to admit they
were wrong because they've gathered a following of kneejerk democrat bashers who have been told for years that
"Yeah the democrats can fix everything right now if they wanted to"
"They are just as bad as republicans"
"Dems do nothing"
etc etc
It's the political equivalent of a bunch of people yelling the truth vs a bunch of people with bart simpson level megaphones spewing lies
