We're NOT Doomed: Tue March 10, 2026
It take a village etc
Elections are happening. They are happening today (MS, it’s your Primary Day!), they’re happening this month, and yes, they are happening in November.
Trump can say whatever he wants but elections are happening.
And, and here’s the most important part, there has been so much preparation to make that a reality.
Let me say that again — even though you’re not seeing all of it, our legal teams, and organizations have been working on fighting this every day.
Our Democratic Attorneys General have a Taskforce titled: Election Protections. Protecting elections is the entire point of the taskforce.
Last week, several of our Dem AGs were interviewed for MediasTouch’s Legal AF podcast by Michael Popok.
Arizona AG, Kris Mayes said:
What I want Americans to know is that you have a team of AGs that has been working together well for now more than a year to protect Democracy. And we’re going to keep doing that no matter what it takes.
That’s not an exaggeration. They saw the writing on the wall and started doing something about it immediately. They saw what happened in 2024 and instantly started combating it.
Oregon AG, Dan Rayfield added:
They may only use half of the things in their playbook, but we’ll be ready in that moment because we’ve done the homework, because we’ve built these relationships during this last year to be ready.
“They,” in this case, refers to Republicans. They aren’t using all the tools they might have at their disposal, mostly cause they don’t know how, and they don’t have the support needed to use many of them. But for every single tool, Dem AGs have a contingency plan.
As Mayes said, they’ve been meeting and crafting their plans for over a year.
Minnesota AG Keith Ellison opted for more of a call to action:
We need people to volunteer as election observers. We need people to volunteer as election judges. We need the rest of the civil rights community to file the cases. And we need to be tough.
They can do a lot of this work, but we have to do it too.
Nothing that needs to be done right now, to save Democracy, can be done by one group individually.
Just like our Members of Congress can’t single-handedly snap their fingers and undo the damage Trump has created, our AGs can’t protect elections without our hard work too.
Just like everything else with Democracy, it takes a village. We need all hands on deck (how many more cheesy sayings can I squeeze into this post?)
Bottom line, we WILL have elections, our AGs have not just been sitting there twiddling their fingers, they have contingency plans on contingency plans.
But they need your help. If you can, become an election observer or judge, and if you can’t, just voting, in every single election, making sure you vote as early as possible in the safest and most secure way you are able (early in person seems to be the best bet in most places, though drop boxes can be good too) makes a difference.
Remember, even with all the voter suppression shenanigans, there were STILL more people voting in the Texas Democratic primary than the Republican one.
So understand, your vote and your voice are your superpower, but ONLY when you use them!
New Brunswick, New Jersey
Wed, Feb 18 - An AI Data Center was planned for a site in New Brunswick, before the City Council scrapped the idea.
On the 18th, protesters, lead by NJ Build Up Resistance Now, held a protest while the City Council was deliberating the decision.
Their voices carried, literally, and the developers rescinded their proposal. In the end, instead of voting on the data center, Manuel J. Castañeda, Council president, approved an amendment to turn the land into a park.
Cal F, who organized the protest told the crowd:
The developers introducing the data center project reworked the project to get rid of the data center plan entirely and turn it into a park. They just did it! They did it without the council even voting on it — they did it because of the public pressure.
This is our power! And I, I don’t know about you, but this makes me feel so much less doomed!
Utah
Fri, Feb 23 - It was a bit up in the air for a while there, but it’s now official, basically, Utah WILL have a blue congressional district, thanks to a final ruling from the state Supreme Court.
Republicans already pushed back the filing deadline once to try and change this decision, but, with the primary on June 23, and the filing deadline closing this week, they seem to have ran out of time.
Better Boundaries executive director, Elizabeth Rasmussen said:
Today’s federal ruling is once again a win for the majority of Utah voters who approved Prop 4 in 2018. While discussions about representation and redistricting will likely continue, this decision provides greater certainty that power is derived from the people. Utahns can now prepare for future elections and the opportunity to have their voices heard. Voters should choose their politicians, not the other way around.
Republicans will keep trying to reverse the maps back to the previous gerrymandering, but for 2026, they have almost certainly failed, and that makes me feel less Doomed!
Inglewood, California
Fri Feb 23 - There was an altercation between a concertgoer and an employee working the Los Bukis concert at SoFi Stadium on Tue Feb 20. The employee, a third party provider, literally told these Latino concertgoers that they were gonna call ICE on them.
By the end of the week, Hollywood Park told KTLA that this employee had been fired. The company gave them the short statement:
We do not tolerate this type of behavior.
We’re hearing about so many companies and organizations that are giving in, it’s important to hear about ones that refuse to.
Especially a stadium like SoFi where the final World Cup match will be held this year and the Superbowl will be next year. We need to hear this kind of rebuke of language like that from everyone, but them especially.
And knowing how quickly they handled this makes me feel less Doomed.
So those are today’s reasons why We’re NOT Doomed. I hope they help you fight harder today.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
And apologies that I was pretty MIA last week, I had a Da Vinci Robotics surgery for endometriosis. I’m still recovering but, I’m back to my regular schedule!
