Three Wins Today: Sept 28, 2025
The majority is our #1 priority!
Doomerella has some thoughts at the very bottom of this post, if you’d rather watch the video,
If not, the intro:
I am incredibly disheartened to see how many people genuinely think progressive ideals could win in every district across the county.
It kind of reminds me of the people who write off the South because since the state voted for Trump, every single person must “be asking for it.”
Take Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03), for instance. The only reason she wins is because she’s a centrist. A progressive could not win in that district, and if you don’t live there, you might not believe that, luckily the Dems who live there, do know what their district is. The problem is when people from outside the district start pushing a progressive who could very easily win the primary and would lose overwhelmingly in the general.
Primaries, in many cases, are where you get to vote most in line with your values, but, in many purple and red districts, right now, we can’t risk losing the seat.
Here’s the big picture, it doesn’t matter how progressive or centrist and Democrat is, having the majority matters more than anything.
I know that’s hard to accept, but hear me out.
Democrats are currently holding shadow hearings. They are using plastic tables and plastic chairs cause they are literally not allowed to hold a hearing in a hearing room as the minority. And they don’t have subpoena power either. That means they can’t compel anyone to show up for their hearing.
They also don’t chair any committee. Bills and some resolutions have to go through at least one committee before they get to the floor. If we were in the majority, even with Trump in office, Republicans could try to pass whatever they wanted, especially in the House, and we could stop it.
In the Senate, that would mean, not a single one of his nominees would get through.
And then we have Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader, who get to decide what comes to the floor and how the floor is conducted.
And I didn’t even mention the House Rules Committee, which is the most partisan committee of all. There are 13 members and four of them are Dems.
This is all to say that our focus should be on getting the majority, not on switching out moderates for progressives.
The minority is still the minority no matter who the specific members are.
We HAVE to focus on getting the Majority, so we control the committees, especially House Rules, have Speaker Hakeem Jeffries and Leader Schumer (Or whoever ends up taking over for Schumer, Jeffries is doing a great job and I’m so done with arguments otherwise), have subpoena power and hold the hearings WE want.
So PLEASE stop talking about primaries as if it is the thing to fix everything. Pay attention to the district, not your utopian hopes and dreams.
Different districts can elect different kinds of Democrats.
Rep Glusenkamp Perez votes with us a lot more than you think, you just hear about everytime she doesn’t. But if she wasn’t in that seat, a Republican would be. It wouldn’t be a progressive, the progressive could not win the general even if they won the primary. So instead of having someone who cares about healthcare and SNAP you’d have someone gleeful about getting rid of it. Is that really what you want? I hope not.
Please see the forest for the trees, we don’t have time to make this mistake again.
Now, for some happy news. Here are today’s three wins!

Orlando, FL
Mon, Sept 15 - Se7en Bites hosted “Parking Spaces for Pride - A Rainbow Connection.” 48 artists, out of over a thousand applicants were chosen to paint these permanent installations, or as permanent as parking space paint can be.
Restaurant Chef and owner Trina Gregory is planning to make this an annual event. She came up with the idea as Governor Ron DeSantis started cracking down on all things rainbow.
But this is her private property, so he doesn’t get any sort of say.
State Rep Carlos Guillermo Smith also came out to show his support.
And if you want to get involved, they started a fundraiser to pay for all the supplies necessary to make this happen. Their goal was $7k, but they’ve only raised $2k so far.
Franklin Township, IN
Mon, Sept 22 - Google pulled the plans for their data center just as the city council was set to vote on it.
Republican Councilor, Michael-Paul Hart is a bit frustrated that they pulled it:
I actually preferred that we had a vote on this, specifically for the reason that it could be delayed for a year, if they wanted to try and bring it back.
This would have put Franklin Township in good company. Many city councils around the country are voting to ban any data center application for a year.
Basically, he’s concerned that they are going to refile quickly. That said, I think it is a win that they pulled out themselves. It shows they’re scared and feel like they have to regroup.
And so do many of the 400 people who were in attendance, the most Hart said he’s ever seen at a city council meeting:
I have never seen, on my six years on the council, 400 people show up for any issue.
He went on to say:
It was a real testament of, when the community comes together, things can be accomplished, and I just want this to be a really big example of any topic, going forward, that the people really do own their community.
And I think that’s the perfect note to end on.
There are so many reasons this story gives me hope, from the fact that he’s a Republican to the amount of people that showed up to give public comment, to the fact that Google ran scared.
Fantastic win all around.
Longview, WA
Thurs, Sept 25 - Washington almost had a street named after CK, but it was removed from the City Council agenda. According to Mayor, Spencer Boudreau, in the comment section to a Daily News post on Tuesday, it is in large part because of how much it would have cost the college, which is on the street, to remake everything with their address.
Given that, only two council members were against pulling the item, one of which put it on the agenda in the first place (nice reminder of how much voting at the local level matters.) It doesn’t seem like this was very popular to begin with. Which is only further confirmed by the fact that they had over an hour and half of public comment even though the vote was scrapped.
Most of the commenters, whether they supported CK, or not brought up the fact that he had no connection to Longview at all and it would just be too “divisive”.
Beth Fox, pastor of Longview First Christian Church, said renaming the street went against the church’s mission of promoting peace and unity because of Kirk’s controversial reputation.
“Whatever good or bad Charlie Kirk did in this world, he did not do it in Longview,” she said. “He is not a hometown boy. I don’t see what he brought to our town other than divisiveness.”
It continues to boggle my mind that a YouTuber is getting this much attention, but I’m so glad Mayor Boudreau figured out a way to scrap this.
I hope this article gives you a bit of a break from the constant doom and gloom, and reminds you of the importance of fighting back every single day.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

We are having this “CK issue” here in Phoenix, AZ. Unfortunately, he has a tie to our city and we have a State Senator and a local pastor both proposing to name streets after him. I’ve written a letter to the editor in our local paper where, at least, one street would be affected and I absolutely do not support a racist/misogynist to don our street signs. We’ll see what kind of pushback I get to my letter. It runs on Wednesday. I hope my house doesn’t get egged, bombed, or shot at!
Also, as progressive as I personally am, one size does not fit all. You have a point.
Important converation on diversity of Dem districts.
