FYI: The Ann Arbor Observer is a great MONTHLY publication, not exactly a newspaper. It's more of a features paper, with profiles of interesting community leaders, historical stories, businesses opening, businesses closing, a comprehensive calendar of events for the month, good local electoral coverage, and deep dives into interesting stories of local import. This month, for example, there's a story on a nonprofit that houses and mentors young people who've aged out of foster care, and another on the preservation of houses once lived in by Raoul Wallenberg and Arthur Miller. It definitely conveys the essence of Ann Arbor but it doesn't take the place of a good local newspaper, which we no longer have. Good that the library bought it, though.

I heartily second this idea. When I have canvassed, voters are always delighted when they can tell me they’ve already put their ballot in the mail.
