Three Wins Today: Oct 10, 2025
Katie Porter is not the only candidate
The California primary isn’t till June, 2026, so why on earth is everyone acting like Katie Porter is the only candidate?
There are currently 26 people running, 12 of those are Democrats. However, all 26 will be running in the same primary, cause California uses the Jungle Primary system.
But, of those 12, I personally only see 3 others as viable.
Tony Thurmond
is the State Superintendent. I first learned about him back in 2023. If you weren’t paying attention to California politics, you might not know what was happening with School Boards. Red areas of California were trying to ban books and force schools to out trans kids to their parents. Thurmond played a huge role in halting as much of this as possible.
One of my favorite examples happened at the Chino School Board meeting, as they were trying to pass this horrendous anti-trans requirement. He got kicked out of the meeting, literally escorted out, for talking a few seconds over the 60 second allotted time.
After this incident, he took to Twitter
One of Governor Newsom’s biggest blind spots, right now, is the trans community. And supporting them has been one of Thurmond’s biggest strengths.
Also, this is what his office said back in June about the trans sports “debate.”
Betty Yee
was the State Controller. This is her latest ad from about a month ago:
She is probably the candidate most able to tackle the state’s financial issues, cause that’s what she did for years.
In an interview with San Francisco Examiner, she was asked what sets her apart:
I personally feel like everything that we do should be centered around the climate crisis so that when we talk about emergency response, when we talk about housing, when we talk about transportation — any of these things — we really need to keep that in focus, because that is a threat for anything that we do. But if we’re smarter about how we look at approaching those with the climate lens, I think we can actually make the dollar stretch a lot further.
Because of her history as Controller, she views everything through finances, and given that the California budget is not good, that might be exactly what we need.
Xavier Becerra
There is no one better, if your main issue is healthcare. He was Health and Human Services Secretary under Biden, as in RFK Jr. has his old job. He was also California Attorney General following Kamala Harris becoming a Senator. He was Rob Bonta during Trump 1.0. And he sued Trump 120 times.
He did an interview with ABC7 San Diego that gives a good glimpse into his priorites:
This is a small bit of info about each of these three candidates. My goal is this makes you want to go out and learn more on your own. We have a little less than 8 months until this primary. I sincerely hope at least one of these three is in the top two and makes it to the general election.
Who is your favorite?
Now, for some wins!
Seattle, WA
Wed, Oct 1 - A self described neo-nazi barged into a University of Washington Psych class called “Diversity of Human Sexuality.” He was, of course, extremely offended that something he doesn’t believe in was being taught in a school he doesn’t go to, so he started lobbing biotry at the teacher and doing the solute.
One by one the students stood up, and much of the 400+ students, as well as Professor Nicole McNichols, in one of the most popular classes in the school, literally chased him out of the classroom and followed him until campus police showed up.
As McNichols put it the is what being human is all about:
I want to take a moment to acknowledge how extraordinary you all were today. In an incredibly upsetting and disruptive situation, you showed care for one another, acted quickly, and supported me and your classmates. Your solidarity and compassion speak volumes about the kind of people you are.
While the initial story was horrifying, the fact that the students just came together like this, no questions asked, is empowering. They are weak and we are strong and that’s why we will win.
You can hear more from the King5 news segment:
Arizona
Thu, Oct 2 - 30 local nonprofits wrote a letter to Speaker of the House, Steve Montenegro, urging him to take some sort of action against State Rep John Gillette who said Rep Pramila Jayapal should be hung for her views.
The letter said:
Representative Gillette’s comments were disorderly behavior of the highest order, reflect a broader pattern of inciting political violence that put lives at risk, and should not be tolerated by Arizona House leadership. We urge you to take action against Representative Gillette’s incitement of violence against another elected official, to demonstrate to the people of Arizona that they are free to non-violently protest and engage with their state legislature without fear for their lives.
The more people who speak out against this, the better. And bringing attention to injustice and bigotry is always a win.
New Jersey
Mon, Sept 29 - Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation that will require Hispanic and Latino stories and history to be taught at all grade levels.
New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Kevin Dehmer said:
New Jersey’s learning standards require instruction that reflects the diversity of our communities and our cultural heritage. Codifying Hispanic and Latino history instruction into law is an important extension of that commitment. The Department will work in partnership with the Commission on Latino and Hispanic Heritage to provide districts with resources that support effective implementation of this requirement, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive understanding of our collective history.
It’s so important to remember that as states with Red executive branches are doing the opposite, states with Blue governments are continuing to focus on Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
It’s, as always a reminder of the importance of voting, and especially in New Jersey, that’s more important than ever. If Mikie Sherrill is the next Governor, she will continue this, if not, it probably won’t even be the policy for the entire rest of the school year.
Elections have consequences, don’t regret your choices with this one.
So those are some of the wins I saw today!
I’m feeling eh, so if this feels less put together than usual, that’s why. Sorry about that.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

I have no idea how you can come up with the ton of things you post but they always are on the money! I have to say my favorite this time was the professor and students chasing the Nazi!!! Love it!!!🩷💕🩷Thank you🩷
Love these wins! Thanks for sharing them through your pain, my Dear! 💜
