Three Wins Today: Nov 6, 2025
Honey attracts flies better than vinegar
I need you to promise me something. No matter what I say next, you are respectful and kind and come at this from a place of support rather than anger. Deal?
I have it on good authority that several Dem Senators are considering supporting the CR with a promise to discuss healthcare later. Now obviously we know that that promise would be broken in half a second, and so do they, but, their constituents are feeling the shutdown and they want to do something about it.
Remember what you promised, we’re coming at this from a place of support rather than anger.
Because the election was such a high priority we’ve collectively let other conversations fall by the wayside, which includes Healthcare and the Shutdown messaging.
That’s okay, Republicans did too, and Tuesday helped these Senators A LOT in holding strong. But, they are getting a ton of calls from Republicans demanding that they reopen the government and not nearly as many from Dems urging them to hold the line, cause we were focused on other things.
For this to be successful we need to come at it from a place of support and respect. We’re not saying “fuck you I thought you were better than this I’m going to primary you if you EVER cave!”
But rather “Thank you so much for holding the line. As you can see from Tuesday, it matters! We need Democrats to stay united and keep fighting. That is what’s giving us hope right now. Please don’t cave, we are with you!”
Do you see the difference?
Right now they are hearing from a lot of people who don’t have their back, we need to make sure they are hearing from those of us that do.
You’re probably asking “so, who are these Senators?”
Well, I waited till now because I didn’t want you writing or calling them without reading the above first, but now that you have, are you ready to call them and be civil and supportive?
They are:
Mark Kelly (AZ) - (202) 224-2235
Chris Coons (DE) - (202) 224-5042
Jon Ossoff (GA) - (202) 224-2575
Angus King (ME) - (202) 224-5344
Elissa Slotkin (MI) - (202) 224-4822
Gary Peters (MI) - (202) 224-6221
Catherine Cortez-Masto (NV) - (202) 224-5042
Jacky Rosen (NV) - (202) 224-6244
Jeanne Shaheen (NH) - (202) 224-2841
Maggie Hassan (NH) - (202) 224-3324
Respect, kindness, support, remember that.

Los Angeles, California
Thu, Oct 30 - Los Angeles Unified School District’s Superintendent, Alberto Carvalho, announced that as long as SNAP benefits are paused, the district will provide breakfast, lunch AND dinner, to any child who needs it, no questions asked.
Their new website says:
Supper meals are available to all LAUSD students ages 1–18 AT DISMISSAL. Community children between the ages of 1-18 can also receive a supper meal at all sites offering supper AT DISMISSAL. Operating Monday through Friday at most district schools.
Now, this meal can’t be taken home, it must be eaten on campus, but it’s amazing that it’s there at all.
This is not going to be cheap to operate, so if this is a cause that you want to support, you can go to the LAUSD Compassion Fund website, and make sure they can keep this going.
Sumner, Tennessee
Thu, Oct 30 - Two weeks ago Riley Gaines, yes, that one, was appointed to the library board of trustees, this is her home town. So, with this new transphobe under their belt, they tried to ban trans content from their libraries for a fourth time. Now, having watched about half an hour of the board of trustees open meeting, I can tell you one thing. This is a very red and very bigoted county, at least, as far as the people who showed up at this meeting are concerned. One man started his comment by saying “God Bless Charlie Kirk and Donald Trump.” It was…jarring. And he was met with cheers.
There were several people who spoke up against the ban, but it was not, by any means a majority, nor did most people speak up for the trans community, they were mostly speaking in favor of following the constitution. At least one woman, did, and her statement was very powerful:
We the people of the United States are diverse, this is a good thing. There are people in Sumner county who are different from you, different from me, this is a good thing. Parents should be able to have frank discussions with their children about the complexities of the world. I would rather live in a county where I can explain to my children that there are people who feel differently about gender or sex and we accept them, than to live in a county where I have to explain to my children that we are actively marginalizing and repressing them, transgender people, that is. It’s not up to you to repress things that you personally are uncomfortable with.
Even with all that, with all that transphobia and negativity, the ban still failed, for a fourth time. The vote was 4-4.
Will it come back? Probably, cause, apparently, 5th time is now the charm? But this is a great win regardless. As we all know, sometimes the most important wins are just delay tactics.
And, if you live in Sumner and want to do something about this, your next election is May 5, so maybe even consider running for office, change the environment from the inside.
Atlanta, Georgia
Mon, Nov 3 - MacKenzie Scott, Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife has donated an additional $32m to Spelman College, the oldest women-only HBCU, founded in 1881. This donation is unrestricted, which means the college can use it how it sees fit. This is Scott’s second investment to the college in the last 5 years. The school has decided the funding will go, in part, towards financial aid and scholarships so more bright, and talented students can go to Spelman without cost being an issue.
Interim President Rosalind “Roz” Brewer said:
This investment is a powerful affirmation of our mission and our commitment to educational excellence and equity. The flexibility of this gift allows us to move more swiftly to strengthen the entire student experience, modernize our technology infrastructure, and expand financial opportunity for scholars who call Spelman home. It is an investment in both our present and our future as we continue to advance our legacy of producing change-making global leaders.
With so many colleges and universities bowing down, it’s important to see a philanthropist like Scott giving to a school like Spelman.
So those are today’s wins. I hope they help inspire you to call your senator and make sure they hold the line, and maybe even file to run for local office.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
