Three Wins Today: Nov 5, 2025
Scratch that, THOUSANDS OF WINS TODAY
This is not going to be like my normal posts, but how can it be? Last night was everything we needed it to be an more. We didn’t win everywhere, Texas propositions were a huge loss, but we did win ALMOST everywhere.
It would be impossible for me to cover every race, but I want to give you a glimpse of our wins across the entire country.
Whenever you feel like somewhere is a lost cause and it’s not worth voting, just read this post, it should help.
Let’s do this!

Arizona
The Tuscon City Council is now majority women. It’s not the first time that’s been the case, but it IS the first time that’s been the case with a woman mayor as well.
California
Prop 50 not only won but it won with over 60% of the vote AND in ruby red Fresno County it got over 50% and ruby red Riverside County, over 56%. This is the very definition of a mandate. I hope this does what it needs to and gets other states to follow suit!
Colorado
There were two propositions, MM and LL, which together, continued their free school lunch program and taxed those making over $300k more to do so. Both measures passed. Denver also passed a massive bond package that will both help with city improvements and help Dem Mayor Mike Johnston with his agenda. In Aurora, it looks like Dems have flipped two city council seats!
Connecticut
The Mayor/ first selectman flipped in Ansonia, Branford, Bristol, Milford, New Britain, Norwich Stratford, and Westport. I’m sure there are others but you get the idea.
Florida
Dems flipped Orlando City Council Districts 1, with Tom Keen, which makes the entire City Council blue. Democrat Eileen Higgins is headed to the runoff for Miami Mayor. Miami hasn’t had a Dem mayor in 28 years, and the odds are very much in her favor. With Bryan Bain’s City Council Seat 2 win, Clermont City Council is now in Dem control, and that’s just what I could find in a couple minutes of looking.
Georgia
For the first time since 2006, Dems have won statewide elected constitutional office, and, we did it not once, but twice. We flipped both Public Service Commission districts that were on the ballot. Stockbridge has elected 21 year old Jayden Williams as Mayor, their youngest ever. In Newnan, Dem James Shepard beat 32 year Mayoral incumbent
Idaho
West Ada Trustee Zone 3 flipped to inclusive teacher, Meghan Brown. We also won three city council seats and mayor in Moscow. They were running against candidates from Christ Church who all lost resoundingly.
Indiana
Five out of six school district referendums passed. These funds will go to teacher salaries and more resources!
Iowa
Des Moines school bond referendum was approved. And Rob Barón becomes the first latino to serve on the city council.
Kansas
Their biggest win yesterday was not at the ballot box, but rather Republicans announcing they’re not going to redistrict. In election wins, Wichita School board flipped from 4-3 R to 5-2 D! Christal Watson will be the first woman Mayor in Kansas City.
Maine
Said no to voter surpression and yes to prohibiting dangerous people from owning firearms.
Maryland
Not entirely election related, but we did find out that Wes Moore has created a redistricting commission
Massachusetts
Moises Rodrígues will be the first Mayor of color in Brockton
Michigan
Mary Sheffield will be the first female Detroit Mayor.
Minnesota
Kaohly Her has become the first woman and first Hmong mayor of St Paul, and her victory makes all leadership of the city female.
Mississippi
Democrats have officially broken the Republican Senate Supermajority! We also picked up a seat in the state house.
Montana
In Kalidpell, progressive, Ryan Hunter will be the new mayor.
New Hampshire
In Manchester, Dems sweep all sweep all school board races and regain majority on Board of Alderman. Dems also now have the entire Nashua Board of Education. Republican Rochester flipped Mayor to blue, electing Chuck Grassie.
New Jersey
Of course we have governor elect, Mikie Sherrill, but Dems now also have a supermajority in the NJ Assembly! Dems also have full control in the borough of Neptune City. In Mehndam, a Dem will be on the formerly all GOP city council
New Mexico
In Albuquerque voters approved 11 bond measures. Gallup elected first ever Navajo to city council. Her name is Sierra Yazzie
New York
Mamdani won, and more importantly he actually got over 50%. Him winning was a given, him getting over 50% was not. In assembly district 115, Michael Cashman beat his Republican opponent by only 2k votes. It’s a hold, but that wasn’t a given. We did, however, flip Clinton County Clerk. Brandi Lloyd won and will also be the first female clerk. The new mayor of Albany, Dorcey Applyrs is also the first Black mayor of the city.
North Carolina
Wilmington’s leadership (Mayor and City Council) will be all Democratic. In Charlotte, Dems won all four at large City Council seats, and Kimberly Owens becomes the first Dem to win District 6. Dems also won all three Cary races. Burlington elected it’s first female Mayor in Beth Kennett. There are so many more but I’ll leave it there.
Ohio
Democrats sweep Cincinnati elections, including Mayor. Aftab Pureval beat JD Vance’s half brother handily. Democrats also swept Canton City Council. Mentor Ohio school board stayed in Dem control, despite Bernie Moreno’s best efforts
Oregon
Washington County voted to help further fund the county’s 16 libraries
Pennsylvania
Of course, I have to start with all three Supreme Court Justices being retained. In Bucks County, we flipped everything from DA to sheriff and you probably hear we took all four of the Central Bucks School Board seats. In Media, Joi Washington was elected as the first woman and person of color to be Mayor. Johnstown elected their first woman and first Black mayor.
South Carolina
We flipped the Mayorship in Lyman. It will now be Dem David Petty. We flipped a seat on Rock Hill City Council. And a seat on Cayce City Council, and one on Aiken City Council. Plus we changed the entire makeup of the Georgetown City Council
Texas
3 Far right trustees were ousted in Cy-Fair School District race, which takes the board from 6-1 Republican to 4-3 Dem. State Senate District 9 is headed to a runoff, thanks to the incredible overperformance by Dem Taylor Rehmet.
Vermont
Barre approved flood resiliency bond
Virginia
Of course you know that Abigail Spanberger is Governor-elect. And the House of Delegates is 2 shy of a Dem supermajority, currently we have a one seat majority, so that’s a gigantic overperformance.
Washington
The only Republican in Seattle Gov, City Attorney Ann Davison has been ousted. She will be replaced by Erika Davis
This is not even a small sample of all our wins, but I hope it shows you that elections are not a waste of time and we can win EVERYWHERE when we organize everywhere!

Your vote is your voice and that voice is your superpower!!!

Ariella, thank you sincerely for the time and energy you put into your research. You are SO much appreciated!
A note about the Aurora, Colorado City Council results: our new Dem council members have dislodged incumbent Danielle Jurinsky, who has conceded. Jurinsky is a Trumper who worked with Trump’s campaign to push the lie that Venezuelan gangs had taken over apartment buildings here in Aurora. She had Big Money and MAGA support but we still defeated her! 💖🇺🇸
I’m a Central Bucks voter. Every single race on my ballot went blue. I have enjoyed throwing shade at the leftover ginormous R campaign signs around the area today 😈
