Three Wins Today: Nov 3, 2025
Don't read this till you've voted.
Tomorrow is election day. Tomorrow is the day we truly get to see if Trump’s poll numbers are accurate. Tomorrow is the day we get to learn if Dem messaging is really getting through. Tomorrow is the day we hopefully prove that Democracy will not go down without a fight.
Tomorrow is NOT the day we sit back and decide, well other people are voting so I don’t have to.
Take Prop 50 in California, for instance. Will Prop 50 pass? It’s very likely. But that’s not the goal. It’s not just about it passing, it’s about it being overwhelming. It’s about showing other states that it’s not just possible, but it’s doable and worth it. 51% isn’t good enough. So, if you’re thinking “well it’s gonna pass anyway why bother making calls, why bother canvasing, why bother telling my family and friends to vote?” Now you have an answer.
And with other races, it’s not a given we will win.
In Maine, it’s not a given that Question 1, which would make it much harder for many people to vote, will fail.
In Mississippi, it’s not a given the 6 new ungerrymandered State Senate districts, and one State House district will actually go blue.
In Virginia, it’s not a given that Abigail Spanberger wins and becomes Governor, and CERTAINLY not a given that Jay Jones becomes the AG (and yes, no matter what he said previously, the Republican winning would undermine everything Spanberger tries to do.) Nor is it a given that we keep control of the legislature.
In New Jersey, it’s not a given that Mikie Sherrill becomes the new Governor.
In Pennsylvania, it’s not a given that all three Supreme Court Justices will be retained.
In Georgia, it’s not a given that two, or even one Dem will join the State Public Service Commission
In New York City, it’s not a given that Zohran Mamdani will get a majority of votes. It’s pretty much a given he will win, at this point, but governing will be harder if he gets less than 50% of the vote.
And that’s not even talking about the hundreds of other races. The School Boards that Moms for Liberty are fighting so far to take over, or keep under their control.
The City and Town Councils that Republicans have the majority on, but might not after Tuesday, like Aurora Colorado.
The hundreds of ballot measures that have the ability to actually make life better for people in the most local way, like repairing the high school or getting better computers for the library.
Every single race matters, from the one getting the most attention to the one getting the least. No matter how confident you are your preferred choice will win or lose, vote anyway. See if there’s any canvasing, text or phone banking left to do. Call and text your friends and family and make sure they’re voting, this is the final push. We can’t rest yet.
Remember. Your vote is your voice and that voice is your superpower!

Tue, Oct 21 - Oak Lawn United Methodist Church began to paint the steps and doors at the front of the church in the colors of the progress flag. The move came after Governor Greg Abbott ordered the removal of all rainbow crosswalks across the state, but the church wasn’t going to let that stand.
In a press release, Senior Pastor Rachel Griffin-Allison said:
It’s important because silence is not neutral — silence in the face of harm always sides with the oppressor. Painting our steps in the colors of the rainbow is a visible witness to the gospel we preach: that every person is created in the image of God and worthy of safety, dignity and belonging.
She’s absolutely right, silence is not neutral.
The stairs were painted by members of the congregation, who the church called heroes in their Instagram post announcement:
And those heroes I mentioned? Meet Robert Jr., Robert Sr., and Kipp (among others) — whose steady hands, watchful care, and open hearts made this possible. Their work is a true picture of community in action. Today, I give thanks for them.
This is exactly what it means to not be silent. It’s not always a big moment of activism, sometimes it’s just making sure everyone knows they belong and are welcome.
Seattle, Washington
Tue, Oct 28 - Today I learned the phrase “restricted covenant.” And it’s one of those phrases that really begs to be in the same sentence as “eat the rich.”
Basically when a big box store purchases a property, they can bar any property like theirs from building there in the future, because it’s classified as “non compete.” So, let’s say you had a CVS on your corner, and one day the store closes. “Restricted covenants” say that that building can never house a pharmacy, market or grocery store again. This is one of the ways food deserts are created.
In Seattle, this is no longer a thing. City Council President, Sara Nelson, brought this up to the rest of the Council, and they voted unanimously to ban “restricted covenant” and any other land use limiter. They also declared a pubic health emergency over the amount of recent store closures.
This will lead to the resurgence of small family owned businesses, which is huge for community and the local economy and so much more.
Nelson said:
We have a duty to prevent the spread of food deserts throughout our city. We do this first by creating the conditions in which our existing grocery stores can thrive — i.e. reducing the retail theft that hurts their already thin margins. This legislation adds another powerful tool by prohibiting the ability of grocery stores from imposing a restrictive covenant on the property being vacated from being used by a competing grocery store operator. This will make it easier for families accustomed to shopping in their neighborhoods to put food on their tables and will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions required to travel long distances by car to meet their needs.
I love this so much, and I can’t wait to see what this does for Seattle, and hopefully other cities across the country follow suit!

Wed, Oct 29 - Workers at the Volkswagen plant have authorized a strike. Now you might want to let your eyes gloss over a bit, because it seems like a smaller deal compared to 2023. But here’s what you might not know: this is the first strike authorization against an automaker, that isn’t one of the big three, in the modern era. These contract negotiations have been going on for over a year, and it’s clear an agreement isn’t going to be reached.
Now, strike authorization doesn’t mean a strike, but it means if the company doesn’t rescind their insulting final offer, there will be one.
One worker, Taylor Fugate said in the press release:
I’m voting yes to get Volkswagen to come back to the table. The majority of the people I know don’t want VW’s ‘final offer.’ They want to keep negotiating, and we are willing to do what it takes to make that happen. We need affordable healthcare and a strong job security statement that leaves no gray area. We also deserve equal standards – Southern autoworkers shouldn’t be treated differently!
This is an incredibly important part of the resistance. Trump is trying to destroy unions and they’re still fighting for better working conditions every single day.
So those are today’s wins. I hope they inspire you to resist today!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

So true. Every election is important, and not every candidate is equal so we all must vote wisely for the candidate(s) who are working to solve issues that are important to themself and their families. Unless you are a billionaire, I do not see how any Republican will help you though. Vote BLUE/ Democrat on Nov, 4th.
Thanks Ariella! Tomorrow or Wednesday there will hopefully so much reporting good things you will have to stay up writing all night! 🤣🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
