Three Wins Today: May 23, 2025
It’s so incredibly late, but this what happens on Thursdays, so let’s begin
According to The Advocate, Chasten Buttigeig’s “Papa’s Coming Home” is the first picture book on the New York Times bestseller list to center queer human parents. VP at his publisher, Philomel Books said:
We know how important it is for young children to see themselves and their families in stories — and how equally important it is for them to see families different from theirs in stories as well. We’re so glad Papa’s Coming Home has been able to give children who have two dads the chance to feel seen and give children who don’t the chance to learn and understand that all kinds of families are filled with love. We are so proud that this book is one of the first books with same-sex parents to make the New York Times Best Seller list and hope it paves the way for many more books to come.
And Chasten posted an adorable video when he found out.
Protect Our Care is launching 10 new Medicaid ads Republican districts. They told The Hill exclusively:
The 30-second ads feature footage of angry constituents at town halls expressing opposition to Medicaid cuts. They also show Steve Bannon, an ally of President Trump, saying in February, “Medicaid you’ve got to be careful, cause a lot of MAGA’s on Medicaid. I’m telling you. If you don’t think so, you’re dead wrong.”
Virginia Democrats have already cast 80K ballots for the primary with three weeks of early voting to go and some early voting locations that haven’t even opened yet. The 2023 election got 129,000 early votes making it very likely that significantly more people will be voting early this year.
So anyone that says people don’t want to vote for Dems are just outright wrong.
That’s all I got today. Hope you have a good rest of your night.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

I can tell you Virginians are tired of Youngkin. He’s vetoed raising the state minimum wage TWICE (we were supposed to be closer to $15 an hour by 2026). Also he only won because the Dem running against him had been governor before and wasn’t well liked enough to win again.
