Three Wins Today: Dec 1, 2025
Sometimes a hospital will surprise you
Do I want to talk about this at all? No, not in the slightest.
But well, ridiculous and insulting social media posts demand it.
Have you ever heard of Blind Gossip, or Crazy Days and Nights or Lainey’s Blind Items?
These are all nauseating websites that basically took the premise of Perez Hilton but didn’t out anyone, they just gave you clues about who they might be outing.
Meaning, they could pretty much say anyone was doing anything and they’d end up being right probably 50% of the time, because, well, when you’re that vague that’s what happens.
By now you’re asking, “Ariella, what the fuck does this have to do with anything?”
Well, in 2019, there was an item that everyone assumed was about Cory Booker’s sexuality. Basically saying he was only in a public relationship with a woman cause he was running for president.
For some reason, entirely beyond my comprehension, far too many people across social media have decided to bring this up again now that Senator Booker and Alexis Lewis have gotten married.
It’s 2025, what the hell are you doing?
It’s one thing to remember it, which, fine, I remember weird stuff all the time, unfortunately, including that blind, but it’s another to make posts about it, especially when you have a following.
And then for that conversation to lead into, “well obviously he’s running for president.” Are we reducing a woman to an FEC filing form? Give me a break.
I am so glad that this time of trusting these random men who either made up shit or were given information by people, who clearly weren’t in any inner circle enough to just shut up, is behind us, or, so I thought.
This feels like a step beyond blindly trusting the posts on our feeds that don’t source anything and are just spreading disinformation. It’s taking that disinformation, removing the relevant facts and making a MadLibs for people’s celebrity speculation fantasies.
If you don’t like Senator Booker, fine (though I personally think when he does the right thing, it’s above and beyond anyone else’s, and that should count for quite a lot), but this kind of insult is just gross.
It’s taking the worst of misogyny and homophobia and mashing it together. Get a grip and stop talking about one of our loudest fighters in Congress as if he’s nothing more than a line in a gossip collumn.
Also, just, stop acknowledging blind items. They were creepy then and they’re even creepier now.
Colorado
Tue, Nov 18 - Secretary of State, Jena Griswold, led 9 other Dem Secretaries of State in a letter to Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem demanding to know why they’re hearing that the DOJ is sharing voter data with DHS and if they lied in order to obtain it.
In the letter they say:
As Secretaries of State and chief election officials of our respective states, we write to express our immense concern with recent reporting that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has shared voter data with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and to seek clarity on whether DOJ and DHS actively misled election officials regarding the uses of voter data.
The letter was signed by secretaries: - Jena Griswold (CO), Adrian Fontes (AZ), Shirley Weber (CA), Shenna Bellows (ME), Steve Simon (MN), Francisco Aguilar (NV), Maggie Toulouse Oliver (NM), Tobias Read (OR), Sarah Copeland Hanzas (VT) and Steve Hobbs (WA).
I can’t imagine they get an answer for any of this, but the paper trail will make, what I assume is an impending lawsuit, easier.
Pennsylvania
Fri, Nov 21 - Obama appointee, Judge Mark Kearney ruled that the Trump Admin cannot access medical records for trans kids at Children’s Hospital Philadelphia.
He said in his opinion:
The Department of Justice is not interested in limiting these three requests; it wants the intimate, individualized, and personally identifying medical files of every child seeking gender- affirming care permitted under Pennsylvania law.
That’s a lot of words you never want to see in relation to anyone, but especially a child.
Three weeks ago 14 AG (and PA Governor Josh Shapiro) filed an amicus brief in this case, and it seems like the fact that Trump is trying to do this in the 14 other states as well seems to have had an impact on Judge Kearney’s ruling here.
It’s also really important to acknowledge that unlike other hospitals, CHOP went to bat for their patients.
Looking forward to more of these rulings coming in the future.
Remember, the rule of law does still matter.
Idaho
Fri, Nov 21 - Idahoans United For Women and Families announced that they are over 2/3 of the way to gathering enough signatures for a ballot measure to end the state’s extreme abortion ban.
They need 71k signatures and they now have 50k.
Executive director, Melanie Fowell said:
Crossing the 50,000 signature threshold is both a celebration and a clear signal that Idahoans want their voices heard. Every signature is a reminder that these decisions belong with patients and their doctors, not with politicians.
I feel like Idaho is one of those states that gets written off the most when talking about red states we could have power in. It’s so written off that I never even see the discussion happening. But there is momentum and we do have power.
This weekend, they did their biggest push ever, having volunteers at 40 small businesses across the state. They started this effort on June 20, and at this rate, they will easily reach 75k before the May 1 deadline. If you live in Idaho, and are over 18, make sure your name is on the petition!
This is how we make change.
So those are today’s wins. Sorry this is up late, Mondays are a busy day for me.
As always, remember, our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
