Three Wins Today, Aug 6, 2025
I swear, sometimes the hardest part of this post is the intro. I always feel totally out of ideas. So I guess that’s the intro today. Maybe I’ll be more creative tomorrow.
Anyway, our wins!
Tues, July 29- Miami-based meteorologist, Michael Lowry, confirmed that NOAA will continue to provide satellite data. This is the data that makes hurricane forecasting possible, so it’s kinda important. Originally it was supposed to go offline on July 31, but they changed course. Another reminder that one of our greatest powers is just making noise when they do something unacceptable. It won’t always be reversed, but oftentimes, it is.
Tues, July 22 - Long Beach, California’s City Council voted to join the Books Unbanned program that allows young people anywhere in the country, to get a free digital library card from that library system. So they can read any books banned in their state or district. The Books Unbanned program was started in 2022 by the Brooklyn public library. You can currently get a digital library card from LA County, San Diego County, Boston, Seattle and now Long Beach.
They can keep trying to take our rights, but we’ll just keep getting more creative.
You can also support Books Unbanned and their mission!
And I have to mention, the LB City Council only looks how it does because people voted!
Fri, Aug 1 - Dem AG, Letitia James (NY), Rob Bonta (CA), Andrea Campbell (MA), Kwame Raoul (IL), and, William Tong (CT) led 10 other Dem AG as well as Gov Josh Shapiro (because the PA AG is not a Dem) in suing Trump and the DOJ over their targeting of trans individuals, especially trans youth. The complaint reads:
Since taking office on January 20, 2025, President Donald J. Trump and his administration have relentlessly, cruelly, and unlawfully targeted transgender individuals…The result is an atmosphere of fear and intimidation experienced by transgender individuals, their families and caregivers, and the medical professionals who seek only to provide necessary, lawful care to their patients.
Rob Bonta spoke in Rep Mark Deslaunier’s town hall last night, and said the Dem AG have won all but two of the lawsuits they’ve filed that have been decided. That’s a really amazing track record and I have no doubt this suit will just be adding one more.
And yet again, another example of the power of elections.
I hope you’re getting the idea that every single win is tied to something you can do. None of these wins happen without our work to make them a reality.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

No need to labor over an intro daily. It's enough to just have the brief paragraphs about the wins. If an intro comes easily, fine, but if not, I don't think anyone will mind.
Books Unbanned WOW! Another day of learning thanks to Ariella.
I don't know how you do it,but keep doing it with or without intros ! (Today's was perfect)
