We knew Texas Republicans were going to put out arrest warrants for Texas Dems. This isn’t news at all. In fact, (TX-30) has her arrest warrant from the last time Dems did this in 2021 framed on her desk.

Now, onto today’s wins!
Sat, Aug 2 - Alaska lawmakers overrode Gov Mike Dunleavey’s veto on increasing the education budget for the first time since 2017, for a second time. Yes, you read that right. Initially, he vetoed the increase, and they overrode the veto back in May. But he really wants to destroy education, so on June 12, he vetoed $51m from the separate state education budget bill. He thought that this would stand because he would tell Republicans not to show up for the special session, which he called, and they’d listen. That failed. One state senator actually got a waiver from the US army to leave the National Guard service to make the vote and 10 Republicans voted with all Dems.
Republican ideas are really incredibly unpopular in Alaska right now…
Wed, July 23 - Peoria, Illinois received word that the decommissioned fire trucks they sent to Ukraine had answered their first call.
Fri, Aug 1 - New Haven, Connecticut has broken all ties with Avelo Airlines, the small airline that chose to help with the Trump deportation efforts. New Haven Arts recieved a copy of the letter sent to New Haven Government staff by Chief of Staff, Sean Matteson. In it he was very clear:
Until further notice, the City of New Haven is prohibiting the use of public funds for any travel on Avelo Airlines. No city departments, offices or affiliated programs may purchase tickets, reimburse travel, or otherwise allocate taxpayer dollars for transportation on Avelo.
And if that wasn’t specific enough, he goes on to detail all the ways it’s unacceptable to work with them in any way.
