Things to focus on that aren't Taylor Lorenz
(Apologies in advance for the long intro)
About Chorus…
I’m part of a fellowship. I didn’t talk about it before because I didn’t need to. There was no reason you needed to know about trainings I was in twice a week, sometimes three times a week, depending on the week.
I get paid for that fellowship because that is the definition of a fellowship. I get paid to attend trainings. Again, that’s how a fellowship works.
I do not get paid for my content. My content is my own. I choose 100% of what I say, and how I say it, but the things I learn in these trainings do give me new ideas for my content.
I didn’t do skits, but one of our trainings was about YouTube and how skits do better on the app and it inspired me to try it and you know what? it’s working great.
I get to talk to people I never could’ve imagined talking to, I mean Marc Elias said my name and answered my questions. I’m still in awe.
And I’ve made some incredible friends and contacts and people who I thought were on a stratospherically higher level than I would ever be.
But these are the people I go to when I’m confused about something, or need support.
I get paid to a attend trainings, not make content, and the entire goal of the program is to give us all the tools so that we can be self-sufficient in our unique content going forward.
It’s hard to be a political creator.
And it doesn’t really pay well either. Most of us spend hours of our day working on this. I spend 4 to 5 hours on my posts per day. I deserve compensation for that time.
It was never meant to be a secret. Most of us kept our mouth shut because of THIS. This is why. Because of people like Taylor making up lies about us, and our incredible team knew it was gonna happen and they were trying to shield us from it.
They wanted our content to be about us and that can’t happen when we’re all having to defend getting paid for the time we spend working.
Also, of course it is not connected to the DNC. if it was, I would actually have a DNC contact right now which I still do not. We get a few interview opportunities, but most are my personal hard earned contacts.
It’s a fellowship. It works like every single other fellowship you’ve ever heard of.
We are training to become better at what we already do.
If you have a problem with that, then you don’t want there to be a progressive media ecosystem. There are no words we are barred from saying, no topics we can’t or must talk about, in fact, they don’t approve our content before we post.
This whole mess is just another product of the circular firing squad.
I’m finally getting some sort of compensation for my time and I’m learning a hell of a lot of skills that are already making my content better.
If you have any questions, comment below, and I will do my best to answer them.
Oh, and one last thing, shame on you Wired. You did absolutely no vetting of the information she gave you and that shows you are not to be trusted ever again.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s focus on the work I do, cause that’s what matters.
And see Doomerella’s take on all this at the end!
Here are three wins to hopefully make your day better!
Michigan
Tue, Aug 26 - When she heard that University of Michigan’s Hospital system is ending their gender affirming healthcare, MI AG, Dana Nessel sent a letter to health providers and patients. They can do whatever they want, but they better know that it goes against MI law:
This cowardly acquiescence to political pressure from this president and his administration is not what patients have come to expect from an institution that has labeled itself, ‘the leaders and the best,’ and my Department will be considering all of our options if they violate Michigan law.
She goes on to say
Until the Court reaches a decision, providers should bear in mind that efforts to withhold or deny healthcare services because an individual is transgender would be discriminatory and risks inflicting irreversible harm on that individual
She is not messing around. And, as she also says, the saddest part is that we are winning in court and in the court of public opinion so why the fuck would anyone think bowing down is actually in their best interest?:
Despite repeated successful legal challenges to actions by this administration, UM has chosen instead to sacrifice the health, well-being, and likely the very lives of Michigan children, to protect itself from the ire of an administration who, oftentimes, engages in unlawful actions itself.
Thank you AG Nessel just for continuing to be your bad ass self and care about the rights of everyone!
Maryland
Mon, Aug 25 - MD AG Anthony Brown announced that he has secured the frozen education funds. For MD, that would be $110m. As a result, The Dem AG are collectively dismissing their lawsuit, as long as they get their money in full, because, they won:
This agreement means that the Trump Administration will reverse its reckless and unlawful decision to withhold these critical resources from our teachers, our communities, and our families. Our Office will always stand up for Marylanders’ education and protect them when the federal government’s broken promises threaten their future.
Our Dem AG are literally the best. Collectively, we did a REALLY good job electing them. This is not the work they expecting to do when they were sworn in, but they stepped up bid time anyway and we are all indebted to them.
Los Angeles, California
Mon, Aug 25 - Around 30 LA area rabbis protested in front of the Israeli Consulate against the starvation of Gazans.
As Rabbi Ken Chasen put it:
There is no standard in Judaism that allows for starvation as a weapon of war. Our people, our tradition, and all of humanity are degraded by a famine that can be stopped.
In Judaism there is a concept, “Pikuach Nefesh,” which means preservation of human life above all else. It’s usually used for Jewish laws like fasting. If your body can’t handle fasting, you are REQUIRED not to. But it applies here too. A life, every single life, is the most precious thing, and anything that intentionally destroys one goes against this very important principal.
This government may say they are Jewish, but their actions are not. And it’s powerful to see so many Rabbis, with all different backgrounds and opinions coming together to say that.
So, I hope, as always this helps you fight another day, and I also hope you feel better about all the BS you’re hearing about Chorus.
If you have any questions about it, don’t hesitate to ask!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

I’m really glad you’re getting paid. You work hard to bring such good information & I really appreciate it. Thank you for being a bright light in these dark days.
Amen Amy. My goodness, lovely you are getting some compensation.
