Three Wins Today, April 13, 2025
I don’t know about you, but I REALLY need to see some wins.
Last week, the superintendent for Salem-Keizer School Distirct, Andrea Castañeda gave an impassioned plea for Oregon not to sign the uniformity inequity and exclusion form. She also fully breaks down what exactly it is, which is something I was a little unclear on till now.
The FDA is fast-tracking a bird flu vaccine. I don’t understand a whole lot of this article, it’s very much language meant for vaccine experts, but I do understand this:
The Fast Track designation is designed to expedite the development and regulatory review of treatments that address serious or unmet medical needs. For ARCT-2304, this status allows for more frequent FDA communication, rolling data submissions, and potential eligibility for Priority Review.
Any positive news about vaccines gives me a lot of hope right about now.
Idaho passed a law prohibiting non-government flags to be flown on government buildings. But as of THursday, Boise City Hall has continued to fly their Progress flag anyway. Maria Ortega, a spokesperson for the city told the Idaho Statesman “We will continue to fly the existing flags on city property.” This is what not bowing down looks like.
Yes these stories are from earlier in the week, but that happens a lot. We rarely know about the wins of the day on the day they happen. Blame the algorithm for not being chronological.
Our voices are our superpower, but ONLY when we use them!

Any good news is good.
