Well, all the commenters share my feelings. Staying out of primaries is important...but it requires that you stay out of primaries. I'm very hopeful for Ken Martin-- (would have been for Wikler too)-- but this was just wrong.
I was ignoring the heck out of Ken Martin because, as a Black woman, I can’t help but feel he is catering to the far leftist camp (the Dem Socialists who have vowed to take over the party and silence Black and Jewish voices) and that was bad enough. But when the DNC endorsed a whole Nazi, racist, rape-apologist in Maine when there are two far less controversial and more experienced candidates still running, I’m done with him. If this is his vision for the direction of the party, I don’t feel like I have a home there anymore.
I don’t live in Maine, so can’t weigh in on what their preferences are. I definitely object to the DNC putting their thumb on the scale once Mills dropped out and before the people of Maine could investigate the other candidates more fully. Coronating Platner, who still refuses to take responsibility for his actions and words gives me serious Fetterman feels and we see he’s on the cusp of switching parties right now. All of it makes me sick!
Leftists are getting their wish with Platner. We have to go along and hope for the best. But the worst thing we could do is oppose him in the general. Not only would that risk another six years of Collins, but it would further divide Democrats as progressives and leftists would feel that "vote blue no matter who" is not equally applied.
Regarding Fetterman, Aaron Parnas and Mike Nellis were describing a "Fetterman Proof" Senate Majority, as in Dems having 52 seats after the midterms, as a real possibility. I would need to see their work, but this blue wave may be enough to accomplish it.
They didn’t have that attitude when it came to VP Harris vs fascism, not when it came to Sec Clinton vs a known rapist/criminal/pedophile. They hold the rest of us hostage with their purity tests, but we have to bend the knee when one of their problematic, totenkoph-sporting Republicans in disguise gets close? Like I said, I don’t live in Maine, so they’re going to do what they’re going to do. But if this is the direction the party is going to unapologetically take, I’m switching to independent. We will get nowhere by becoming GOP 2.0.

Sadly, Dem leadership failed to read the room and now we have Graham "Red Flag" Platner.
It's frustrating, but we have to vote blue no matter who.
