Money doesn't vote.

A lot of social media followers means donations not voters.

Your favorite candidate didn’t lose because they were sabotaged.

They lost because social media doesn’t win elections.

I don’t mean that social media isn’t important, it is, but it’s not a barometer for how popular a candidate is in the district.

Not typically anyway.

Social media is incredible for getting people excited about a candidate and helping them get the funding needed for more ads, mailers, events, you name it.

But, the goal of raising money is being able to do thing on the ground.

Money can’t vote. So if their message only resonates with out of state or district donors, that’s not someone who can get elected.

However, when we stop focusing on the follower count, there are ways social media can make an impact.

And I think the best example is Y’all Vote, the new organization from Amanda Nelson, Kate Barr and Bull City Anna.
