Medicare Advantage is very much a scam
Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 203
As always Dems are doing the work, and as always, most people don’t know it. So hopefully this helps.
Repping the Rep: Luz Rivas (CA-29)
Visited Arleta High School on Thurs, the first day of school for LAUSD. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because last week a student with disabilities was kidnapped by ICE. So she showed up to let the school know she’s doing all she can and deter ICE from coming back.
And she is our rep for the week, so I hope you enjoy learning all about her, especially because this is her first term in congress.
Rep Sylvia Garcia (TX-29)
Made a whole post about all the ways in which the TrumpTax will harm students and teachers as back-to-school begins. I especially like how she gave sources for every horrific statement she made. I think this is an especially informative video for people who haven’t been paying attention, which are the exact kind of videos we need.
Rep Delia Ramirez (IL-03)
Spoke at the Chicago Fight the Trump Takeover Rally with many other leaders including the Texas House Dems. She has so much fight in her. I wish she was talked about as much as AOC and Jasmine Crockett, cause she’s absolutely on the same level.
DNC Chair Ken Martin
Was in LA last week meeting with community leaders about how to protect the city’s most vulnerable, especially with the ICE raids and Trumps obsession with destroying our city.
Ken is really good at showing up whenever something happens. He is always where he needs to be and I feel like we don’t talk about that enough.
He asked on of the activists: “If you were speaking to Donald Trump, what message would you have?”
Without missing a beat, the man said “resign”
These are the kind of people Chair Martin chooses to platform and that says a lot.

Rep Jill Tokuda (HI-02)
Was on the picket line with Unite Here Local 5 to stand up to Kaiser Permanente and the way they’re treating their healthcare workers. Local bargaining began in April, nationwide began in May, and their contracts expire in September. We are creeping up on a strike. I’m so glad Rep Tokuda is out there supporting the union.

Rep Mark Pocan (WI-02)
Is continuing his series of answering questions from followers. This one has to do with the damage caused by Medicare Advantage. If you don’t know, basically, to try to get out of actually making things cheaper, health insurance lobbyists devised a plan to make you think you were getting Medicare when you weren’t. Cute, right?
I didn’t explain it super well, but Rep Pocan definitely does.

And finally…
Rep Maxwell Frost (FL-10)
Was at University of Central Florida for move-in week with FL State Rep, Anna Eskamani helping register voters. Now, registering voters in Florida is significantly harder than it use to be, now that non citizens can’t even touch the registration clipboard, among other restrictions, but they were there anyway, cause it doesn’t matter how hard Republicans make it, we are going to make sure every who has the right to vote has the ability to register no matter what.
So those are just some of today’s fighters. Please never forget that they are fighting for us every single day.
If you made it to the end of this post, comment 🪧(strike sign) cause solidarity forever, union strong!
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment 🛏️ (bed) cause that definitely looks like a dorm room bed and I hope a lot of them registered before even moving in.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

Hi Ariella, thank you! I'm not sure if you have any more interviews coming up, but I would love it if you and Jess Piper from 'The View from Rural Missouri by Jess Piper' Substack could team up for an interview. There are a lot of Dem fighters in rural communities, but they don't get as much attention as they should.
