This week is one of the bigger election weeks of the Midterm primaries. The long awaited California primary is FINALLY here, but also a separate special primary for CA-01 (current boundaries), and there are also primaries in IA, MT, NJ, NM and SD.
I know it’s easy to ignore primaries, but PLEASE VOTE! Every single election matters, no matter your state, no matter how blue or red it is.
And remember, I have a voting group, so, when you sign up, you will get a TEXT with these guides when I post them and you don’t have to rely on an algorithm. And I will know where my audience is so I WILL cover elections in your district. Sound good right?

KEEP IN MIND:
NEW LAW: SB 175 went into effect March 26, 2026. A NEW voter who does not provide documentary proof of citizenship at the time of registration must be registered as a federal-only voter. Under SB 175 Section 3, or at SDCL § 12-4-1.4, acceptable proof of citizenship for voter registration includes:
1. A South Dakota driver license or nondriver identification card issued after July 1, 2025;
2. A driver license or nondriver ID card from another state indicating citizenship has been verified;
3. A tribal identification card;
OR
4. A photocopy of one of the following:
1. Birth certificate;
2. United States passport;
3. Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by the U.S. Department of State;
4. The individual’s certificate of naturalization;
5. Any other documentation permitted under 42 C.F.R. § 436.407

This is THE ONLY legislative primary for Dems in SD.
So I hope this guide is helpful even though it’s pretty close to the elections. PLEASE vote if you haven’t already, and, California do not use USPS at this point. Just use the drop box or hand your ballot in to a polling location. Better safe than sorry is paramount here!
And remember, your vote is your voice and that voice is your superpower, but only when you use it!
