Election Day Is Every Tuesday 8/10-16
Okay I clearly need more volunteers, because every week I get this out barely in the nick of time. So, if you like research, especially the Facebook kind, and you have some time to spare, I would love your help on these election guides.
This is not going to be complete by any means, but hopefully it gives you an idea of what’s happening Tuesday and Saturday.
Here’s the overview:
Tues 8/12 - MA, MN, OK, SC and UT
Sat 8/16 - LA
And of course a massive shout out to my amazing volunteer, Michelle PF Masters!
Tuesday Aug 12
Massachusetts
Plymoth County
Ware
Select Board Special Election
There is an election happening as you can see on the town’s home page, but that’s all I can find.
Minnesota
There are statewide primaries. There are far too many elections for me to be able to write them all out but I will say, Winning Women and Stonewall DFL have endorsement pages.
Oklahoma
There are special proposition elections throughout the state, remember these are typically how schools get repaired and expanded when needed. These elections are not flashy but they are vital for local government. There are too many to include here.
South Carolina
Anderson County
Saluda County
Ridge Spring General Election,
Mayor:
Greg Sander (Priorities: "1. Clean up Town Hall problems: financial, record-keeping, employee turnover, general inactivity. 2. Create economic development 3. Be transparent 4. Handle meetings effectively 5. Be available to conduct town business"),
James Williams Jr.
Town Council Member (uncontested): Mario Luna
Utah
Is having their municipal primaries, there are 12 municipalities so check if yours is one of them.
The only one we could find a lot of info on was Aspen Peaks School board, and I’m glad it’s that one cause it looks really important.
Aspen Peaks School Board,
School Board 4:
Amber Bonner (REPUB, does not want her 7 children or anyone else's kids to learn about black history because it is "inappropriate"),
Wendi Jensen (BA in History Education & English Education, PTA Member, school volunteer, former charter school teacher, supports special education programs),
Nicole Gearing (says wants to keep her approach non-partisan but definitely DEM leaning, wants evidence-based policies, prioritizes inclusion, PhD in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, associate professor in education, former special ed teacher, volunteers with the schools).
Saturday Aug 16
Louisiana
TO BE ADDED
I hope this helped some. Sorry it’s not super complete, but I wanted to make sure something got out!
