Election Day is Every Tuesday 7/19-7/26
I’m late, I’m sorry, I promise I’m getting better at this.
There’s not any “major” elections this week, but as you know, every single election is life and death for someone at this point.
Here’s what we’re looking at:
Mon - MA
Tues - MD, ND and SC
Wed - MA
Lots of bonds and such that matter now more than ever, considering the federal government won’t help with anything.
Huge thank you to my amazing volunteers, Bree and Michelle RF Masters!
So, let’s get started!

Seekonk - Library Bond Measure Special Election
BALLOT QUESTION
“Shall the Town of Seekonk be allowed to exempt from the provisions of proposition two and one-half, so-called, the amounts required to pay for the bond issued in order to pay the costs of the renovation and expansion of the Seekonk Public Library building located at 410 Newman Avenue, including the payment of all other incidental and related costs?” YES NOThe town's current library is in a state of disrepair. Due to a heating system failure last year the library was forced to close for part of the winter. The town has already voted down the option to build a new library at a greater cost. Based on the proposal on the ballot on July 21st "the average homeowner (based on a home valued at $541,000) will pay approximately $100.55 per year. Repairs costs account for 86.5 % of the project." Repairs and improvements will include fixes to the roof to prevent damages, install insulation, fix the heating system, and improve the sound proofing, among others. The town's only public library currently provides DVD and video game rentals, access to computers on site, and hosts a variety of free classes for the community. Without the improvements the library will likely be closed for portions of the year and will continue to receive damage to the roof which could cause leaking and mold in the near future.

Ocean City Municipal Special Election
Referendum Question #A:
Local Referendum by Petition to Ordinance 2025-04 for the imposition of a length of stay requirement in the R-1 Single Family Residential District and the MH Mobile Home Residential District. The Mayor and City Council of Ocean City passed Ordinance 2025-04 on March 3, 2025 and said ordinance states: a) There shall be a five (5) consecutive overnight minimum length of stay for any dwelling rented in the R-1 single family residential district or in the MH mobile home residential district. This shall not apply to a rental booking in the R-1 single family residential district or in the MH mobile home residential district reserved prior to March 3, 2025, for a 2025 calendar year stay. b) Beginning January 1, 2027, there shall be a thirty- one (31) consecutive overnight minimum length of stay for any dwelling rented in the R-1 single family residential district or in the MH mobile home residential district. FOR AGAINST
The City Council has argued that short term rentals are a form of business that are not allowed in single family areas, that the renters generate noise, trash, and parking issues. Individuals who are against the proposal believe that it unfairly restricts their rights as homeowners, that it will not solve the problems listed by the City Council, and that it would eliminate a helpful stepping stone for families who are interested in moving to the town long-term.
