Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 247
I will always find Dems to amplify
“The Democrats” doesn’t mean anything. I will always find Dems to support and highlight, even if some are doing something else really stupid at the same time. Cause, say it with me, Dems are not a monolith.
Repping the Rep-elect: Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07)
Arrived in DC this morning and even though she’s not sworn in, she’s already getting to work.
Almost all Congressional and Senate Dems are fighting for healthcare in DC and she’s right there with them. She’s in every caucus meeting even though she’s not technically a member of congress yet.
She also says “I encourage you to reach out to leadership, Speaker Johnson, and say Let Her Vote!”
Our voices matter here. The more annoying we are, the more likely he caves.
Ready to be annoying?

Rep Mike Thompson (CA-04)
Is just one of many Dem reps posting about the shutdown today. He said:
Sadly, Democrats are here, we’re ready to work. The House Republicans have not been called back. As far as they’re concerned, healthcare, I guess, just isn’t an issue of importance to them.
This is the kind of messaging you’ll see across the board. Dems won’t vote for the “clean” CR because they will not let Americans lose their healthcare, that’s the bottom line.
Go to the social media of your choice and put in your US Dem elected or the closest Dem elected to you. With very few exceptions, you will see a post about exactly that.
Our Dem are fighting for the working class to keep their healthcare, and Republicans couldn’t care less.

Dem Women’s Caucus
Hosted an Ask Me Anything livestream on YouTube today about the impending shutdown.
Chair Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03) hosted, with answers by: Whips Sarah McBride (DE) and Emily Randall (WA-06), CAPAC Liaison Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and members Maxine Dexter (OR-03) and Chellie Pingree (ME-01).
I only watched a few minutes, but they answered questions like “will public schools be shut down?” and “Why can’t Republicans keep the government open if they control Congress and the White House.”
A nice reminder of my favorite phrase “just because YOU know about it doesn’t mean everyone does.”
Definitely worth watching our Dem women educate us so we have the tools to fight back.

Rep Janelle Bynum (OR-05)
Really confused a reporter today because he didn’t expect her to be so clear and concise about the attempted Portland federal takeover.
I mean…I knew what she was doing, not sure why he didn’t. It’s really that simple, she didn’t have to say anything else. We all know exactly what she means, well, except him, apparently.

Kinda short one today, every fighter kind of spoke for themselves. Hope it was still helpful regardless.
If you made it to the end of this post, comment 👩🏾⚕️(A doctor) because I’m so glad our Dems are holding their ground on healthcare.
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment 👩🏻 (a woman) because I love that the Dem Women’s Caucus held this AMA.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
