Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 293
You didn't think they did that.
I always try to find stories that have something in common, and I always fail, but today I did it, I have a through line. Four stories from four Dems you do not associate with these stories. I’m actually really proud of this. (less proud that it’s 9pm and the video is light years better than whatever this post is)
Repping the Rep: Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07)
attended the rally at the border wall hosted by the Center for Biological Diversity all about how the wall doesn’t just affect people, it affects animals and the environment too.
This is definitely not an aspect I’ve seen much of a focus on so I’m thrilled she’s bringing some national attention to it.
Rep Robin Kelly (IL-02)
doesn’t care how we get there, but wants the end result of any healthcare fight to be universal healthcare.
When I think about people fighting for universal healthcare, she’s not a name on that list, which tells me, even my mental list is lacking.
Rep Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10)
was instrumental in this week’s announcement that the Sackler family has to pay $7bn to victims of the opiod epidemic, that they knew about and hid (and as an avid Matlock watcher, no, I did not make the connection until yesterday)
It was his constituents that came to him to tell their story that started this ball rolling many years ago.

Sen Andy Kim (NJ)
went to Dunellen to discuss the need for federal funding to be restored to complete the Gateway Program, which, if you remember from a couple weeks ago, has been stalled till after 2028.
This project, when complete will connect NYC, New Jersey and the Northeastern corridor, and will make such a vast difference in so many lives.
I also love his focus on the nonpartisan aspect of this project. At the end of the day local officials are supposed to put community before party and it’s nice to see that happening here.

So, was I right? Were you expecting these people to be focusing on these fights? Let me know!
If you made it to the end of this post, comment, 🐆 (jaguar) cause they’re one of the many species affected by the wall.
And if you watched or read any of these stories comment, 🚆(train) cause this federal funding needs to be restored now.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

I love how you find even the smallest of things to feel like we’re still fighting. Actually, today’s letter were big things, so YES!
Appreciate you very much. 🐆🚆
