Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 137
It's up to US to amplify them!
I am so ready for my day off tomorrow. It’s been a week, for all of us, I think. It’s okay to take a break. Please don’t let anyone tell you you must be paying attention 100% of the time.
That said, it would be nice if more people paid attention to these fighters.
Repping the Rep: James Walkinshaw (VA-11)
Posted a video demanding FCC Chairman Brendan Carr resign:
The so-called FCC chairman, Brendan Carr, who successfully pressured ABC to cancel Jimmy Kimmel, who has threatened other networks to toe the line and bend the knee to Donald Trump should resign.
I love how many Dem electeds are making a big deal over this, because, well, it is a big deal.
And that ends this week’s introduction of Rep Walkinshaw. I hope you enjoyed getting to learn about him with me. I’m still in awe of how fast he hit the ground running, and I have a feeling he will be a mainstay in this series.
Rep Frank Pallone (NJ-06)
As Ranking Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep Richard Neal (MA-01) for Ways and Means, and Rep Bobby Scott (VA-03) for Education and Workforce, along with Senator Ron Wyden (OR) and Sen Bernie Sanders (VT) introduced the “Protecting Free Vaccines Act.”
It reads:
A group health plan and a health insurance issuer offering group or individual health insurance coverage shall provide coverage for and shall not impose any cost sharing requirements for immunizations that had in effect a recommendation from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with respect to the individual involved as of October 25, 2024
I love the specification, the last recommendation before the election. And that’s really the most important part, cause if it were current, who knows what would be included.
This is such a no brainer, but, of course it probably won’t even get to the floor.
Hopefully we can make sure it gets enough attention that it could be a red line for some voters, or non-voters, as the case may be.
Who’s ready to spread this bill?

Rep George Latimer (NY-16)
Has been part of this series twice. The first time was for his “Meanwhile” speech on the House floor when The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was canceled, and this is the second time, for his speech about Jimmy Kimmel being “indefinitely preempted,” essentially, for making Trump mad.
He began:
Mr. Speaker, I quote, “political satire is one of the oldest and most important forms of free speech. It challenges those in power by using humor to draw more people into the discussion. That’s why people in influential positions have always targeted for censorship.” end quote. These are not my words, these are the words of Brendan Carr, the current FCC Chairman. This week, Chairman Carr called for Jimmy Kimmel’s show to be canceled, for using that very same satire.
I don’t know any other word for that but…chilling. There is no such thing as freedom of speech if it doesn’t apply to everyone, that’s literally the definition.
I’m sure Rep Latimer also excels at other speeches, but his freedom of speech ones are really top notch.

Rep Andre Carson (IN-07)
Posted a great carousel detailing three medical research grants that have been terminated. And they’re just jaw dropping. These are not the first, or even the 20th three things that anyone, other than apparently the President, would ever consider partisan, which is why posts like this are so important. Most people probably don’t know these were canceled, even if they’re generally aware of what’s going on.
It’s another example of us needing to help him spread this message, which I think is in a pretty compelling format, so that more people can see it and Trump’s approval rating can drop even lower.

And last, but only because it went marginally viral on Instagram, and if you didn’t know by now, the order is based on views…
Rep Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37)
Did her own version of “Man on the Street” all about Planned Parenthood. She called it “This is Not A Game…Show.”
It’s, entertaining, and informative and memorable and it has 200 views on Threads and 48 likes on BlueSky.
I wrote her staff the second I saw it and said “If the This Is Not a Game Show doesn’t go viral, I give up, lol, It’s very brilliant and you should be very proud.” (no I don’t text like that, but I figured you’d appreciate the capital letters and punctuation added.)
This is why I don’t buy the idea that Reps like Jasmine Crockett and AOC are only popular because their content is better. You can’t look at a video like this and think that’s true. Rep Kamlager Dove should have the same name recognition as Rep Crockett, and she just doesn’t.
IT IS OUR JOB TO MAKE SURE OUR FAVORITE DEMS GO VIRAL. No one is going to make that happen but us.
So I hope these posts gave you something to think about, and some things to amplify.
If you made it to the end of this post, comment with 🎤 (a mic) because freedom of speech only works if it applies to EVERYONE.
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment 🏃🏽♀️ (a Black woman running) cause Rep Kamlager Dove ran around looking for people to play her game and I just don’t understand how something so creative can be going absolutely nowhere.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
