Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 310
Some days our fighters just make me excited, this is one of those.
One day I will come here and have a really clever intro, because I’m writing it at like 6:30, or something, but today is not that day and it’s fucking 9 and I procrastinated again, so here’s a speed run (the video is REALLY good today though, so there’s that)
Repping the Rep: (IL-05)
reposted about volunteering with Greeley Walking School Bus, and I’m so glad he did, cause I totally missed it the first time. (this is a sign, if you run a rep’s social media account, that it is not just okay, but encouraged to post things you’re proud of a second time)
If you guessed this was about ICE, you would be correct. Volunteers joined kids and their parents to walk them to school and be a barrier between them and a potential ICE raid, and in October, while Republicans were on an extended vacation, Rep Quigley was one of them.
I love when reps don’t just talk about something being important, but participate too.
And you can watch the video from October too.

Rep Chris Pappas (NH-01)
was the 11th House member to sign onto Rep Anna Paulina Luna’s (R-FL-13) discharge petition to finally ban Congressional stock trading. So far the Dems are Reps Pappas, (OH-01), Sara Jacobs (CA-51), Jared Moskowitz (FL-23), and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05). The petition was just filed yesterday, there are literally only 14 signatures so far, but if you want your rep to sign it faster, just call their office and ask.
I will also say, I wouldn’t have known about this if I hadn’t seen Rep Pappas’ post. This is why it matters for our reps to post about these kinds of things.

Rep Robert Garcia (CA-42)
As ranking member on the Oversight Committee, interviewed George Retes, a US citizen, and vet, who was detained by ICE in LA in July and is now looking to get justice.
The interview is absolutely heartbreaking, and a must watch. There’s something about hearing the story rather than just reading it that is extremely impactful.
I hope Oversight does more of these, cause, wow.

Rep (CA-37)
actually made the deficit interesting. Cause I know, who on earth wants to sit and listen to our Dems talk about how much the deficit is increasing. There are fascinating hearings, but it’s hard to believe that a Judiciary hearing called “Balancing the Federal Budget: Examining Proposals for a Balanced Budget Amendment” could possibly be one.
But that’s just Rep Kamlager-Dove. She has a way of speaking that just makes you pay attention. And while yes, I wish all Reps had that, it works cause this is just who she is, and I hope, in time, all of our Dems will find what makes them pop.
So those are today’s fighters. I hope you learned something!
If you made it to the end of this post, comment 🚌 (school bus) cause every program to protest kids from ICE is so important to highlight!
And if you watched or read any of these stories comment 💵 (cash) cause I think this might really be the time that the House passes a bill to ban Congressional Stock Trading.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
