Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 124
Remember that tomorrow is Saturday, which means it is my day off. You will be introduced to my new “Repping the Rep” for the week, but the rest is on you. So start finding stories now.
So, here are my final fighters of the week!
Rep Bill Foster (IL-11)
#ReppingTheRep @repbillfoster posted the suicide and crisis lifeline for the second to last day of mental health awareness month. I think there’s been so much going on that not too many of our Dems have taken the time to post about this. Glad he has.
Rep Josh Harder (CA-09)
Has today’s Democratic Daily Download. It is, of course, all about what would happen if there were cuts to Medicaid he gives specifics about certain things that would be affected like jobs in nursing and talks about his own personal connection to the program.

Rep Jimmy Gomez (CA-34)
Is actually in Young Kim’s district and it’s not for a town hall. He went to an adult day care center that gets most of its funding through Medicaid.
Rep Kim insisted that she wasn’t gonna cut it and then voted to cut it, so now he’s making sure her most vulnerable constituents know.
I love this a whole lot.
DNC Chair Ken Martin
Was in Utah this week. He believes that many Red states, Utah included, could be purple and possibly even blue with a little bit of work, so he’s making sure the DNC puts in that work.
I especially love what he said to Deseret News about inviting religious people into the party:
I think that our party has always stood up for those who are the least amongst us, who have the least … I think that a lot of churches also believe that, right? We need to create social safety nets so people and communities aren’t falling through the cracks.
He’s not saying “Dems have been doing the wrong thing.” This isn’t a post-mortem. It’s not the values that need to change, it’s who those values are being messaged to, and it’s framing like this that just proves how perfect Martin is for this job.
Rep Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03)
Conducted an unannounced oversight visit at the Eloy ICE facility. She made so many posts about the things she learned and how horrified she is. Please take the time to go to all of her socials because there are different videos on each of them and watch her talk about her experience. This is a news piece from ABC15 Arizona.
Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25)
Conducted an unannounced oversight visit at Krome detention center, her local facility. We are going to be seeing a lot of of this throughout the week so keep an eye out on your rep and your favorite reps for when they make their oversight trip.

And finally…
Sen Elissa Slotkin (MI) and Rep Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08)
Will be leading the next DNC People’s Town Hall, which is next Friday, June 6 at 5:30 PM in MI-07 which is represented, or not, as the case may be, by Tim Wahlberg.
So if you live in that district and want to be heard by someone who actually gives a shit, consider going.

So those are some of today’s stories. I can’t wait to see what stories you find for tomorrow!
If you made it to the end of this post comment with 🫎 (emoji insists that’s an elk, I’m skeptical) because we are gonna turn Utah blue
And if you watched or read any of the stories comment 🧶 (yarn) because that’s all that could come to mind when thinking of adult daycare and I want more dams to go to R districts, even when they’re not doing a town hall.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

elk, yarn. (reading on my computer without emojis accessible :-))
It is hard as ordinary citizens to sustain the constant onslaught of distressing news about the impacts and consequences from actions that our own government has taken. I find it easier to tolerate this because the Democrats who are trying to actually represent us, and our laws and our societal morals and ethics, are out there sustaining an even more dramatic level of aggressive actions. We must assume that all the republican'ts are on the tRUMPUS team unless they stand up and speak out. I appreciate that you try to bring that to us too, if there is any of that. It is a drop in the bucket but an encouragement that some former GOP are joining the Democratic Party in order to help claw back our country. Enjoy your day off.
Sharing a Facebook post, highlighting resistance efforts in North Alabama. A Townhall meeting without Congressman Dale Strong was held on Friday, May 30, in Decatur, AL. He is consistently ignoring constituents and calling them paid protesters.
