Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 270
Our Dems are united AND telling us new stories
Dems are unified in messaging, but I also love that on top of that unification they’re still keeping us abreast of the other disturbing things coming out of the Republican party, and making sure their constituents are being heard in other ways too.
Repping the Rep: Henry Cuellar (TX-28)
Posted a screenshot of his constituent’s ACA marketplace pricing. It’s not as much as some people are experiencing, but $300 more dollars a month is not small.
In the caption he wrote:
This isn’t an isolated case. More than 113,000 of our neighbors in #TX28 will see premium increases next year, with even higher rate hikes expected. These rising costs are pricing people out of coverage and putting quality care further out of reach.
I am so glad so many Democrats are making these kinds of posts. And again, as I say every time I talk about Rep Cuellar, he’s one of the most moderate Dems and even he is fully united with the party against the Republican attempt to destroy healthcare.

Sen Andy Kim (NJ)
had the same idea, but he had his constituent tell his own story. This man described himself as a former young Republican, and he kept saying that he blames both parties, but, I think it says a lot about Sen Kim’s character and values that he posted this video anyway.
The silver plan that I am currently on, which is a middle-of-the-road plan, is... $275 more expensive than what I’m paying a month now. The office visits are $15 more for a co-pay. The deductible is about $2,000 higher. Out-of-pocket max is also higher. If I were going to be going with a lower-cost bronze plan. That would still be over $150 more a month for a bronze plan. So that’s a downgrade in plan, downgrade in the coverage options. I’m not real happy right now.
Honestly, seeing those numbers on a screen is so much less impactful than hearing him talk about this in his own words.
How can anyone support the Republican party line after hearing that?

Rep Mike Levin (CA-49)
Wants to make sure we’re aware of how Kristi Noem is about to spend our tax dollars when so many children are literally starving.
Apparently, she’s now also getting her own jet:
The Department of Homeland Security, under her leadership, just ordered two Gulfstream G700 luxury jets for $172 million for official use. These jets have bedrooms, they have marble bathrooms, even mood lighting, but apparently no sense of shame on board. Noem wants taxpayers to hire a flying palace, while working families can barely afford groceries. But here’s the thing, the fish rots from the head. Donald Trump took a $400 million jet from Qatar, and now Noem thinks she deserves hers too, all on the public dime.
I would not have known about this grift without Rep Levin’s video. This is yet another reason that paying attention to our members of congress is so important. Because they are keeping track of things we might not be. They’re telling us what should be getting attention that probably isn’t. They’re doing the work that traditional media no longer will.

Rep George Latimer (NY-16)
Is working really hard to actually make sure the Penn Station Access Project, which would create four new ADA accessible subway stations in the Bronx, Westchester County and Connecticut that would connect to Penn Station, actually happens. Which, given how much it’s been delayed, is really not a given right now.
He joined two letters to the Amtrak President, Roger Harris.
The first was with other Westchester County elected officials, and said, in part:
The Penn Station Access project is a transformative investment in the future of the New York region. For the East Bronx, it will finally bring long-promised rail service to neighborhoods that have watched passenger trains pass them by for nearly a century. For Bronx residents, it will provide a faster, direct connection to Penn Station and Manhattan’s West Side as well as Westchester and Connecticut, cutting commute times by at least an hour in each direction. This project is essential for working families, for regional mobility, and for economic growth that will connect communities that are considered transit deserts and provide them with reliable public transportation options.
They continued:
Yet despite its critical importance, Penn Station Access has now been delayed for the third time. This latest delay is the most severe yet, pushing completion back from a 2027 start date by at least 17 months, with 2030 being the earliest this project could be fully operational. This is entirely unacceptable.
The second is a letter specifically from members of congress, which includes:
Amtrak must take decisive action to mitigate these delays and ensure that the project can accelerate its work and make up for lost time. The MTA has outlined a plan to get the project back on track and to enable service to begin by the end of 2027. We strongly support this plan and urge Amtrak to work together with the MTA to achieve it and deliver for our constituents.
Public transit is such an important aspect of living or working in a city, one that most of New York does better than most, but clearly this is a spot that could use some improvements. I’m so glad he’s fighting for this so hard.
Accessible public transit is a pillar of supporting the working class and giving them the tools they can use to thrive.
So those are just some of today’s fighters. I hope you learned something. And PLEASE vote tomorrow if you haven’t already. We must overperform everywhere!
If you made it to the end of this post comment ✈️ (plane) Because Kristi Noem is using our tax dollars for WHAT now?
And if you watched or read any of these stories comment 🚉 (train) because public transit matters!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
