Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 297
Leveraging their power in every way possible
I was trying to figure out how these fighters connected, and I think I landed on, these are all ways of fighting that are often times ridiculed. But, I think they’re pretty great.
Repping the Rep: Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07)
celebrated the start of Trans Awareness Week with Christopher Street Project. They are essentially Emily’s List but for trans rights, both trans and ally candidates. I’d never heard of them before her video, but I’m so glad they’re on my radar now.
This fits the theme cause I feel like a lot of people feel that speeches are useless, but I could not disagree more. There’s so much power in words, especially words like this when people are convinced Dems don’t care about the Trans community.

Reps Robin Kelly (IL-2), Delia Ramirez (IL-03), Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) and (CA-37)
Led a letter as members of the Dem Women’s Caucus to Acting Director of ICE, Todd Lyons demanding that pregnant women be released from ICE custody.
By detaining vulnerable women in appalling conditions while pregnant, you are subjecting both the pregnant individual and the pregnancy to significant risks and possible death. We urge the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE to follow its own rules and regulations on detention of pregnant women and demand their humane treatment.
Yes, I know how you feel about letters, but, that’s not what we should call them. In a meeting this week, Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) called them “leveraging the power of the letterhead.” And I think that changes the entire conversation. The Democratic Women’s Caucus letterhead holds power.

Rep Jared Huffman (CA-02)
posted another video in his “The Flipside” series. Today is about Trump gutting the Clean Water Act, and him teasing how Dems are going to fight back. It sounds like a bill is coming and a lawsuit too.
One thing I love about this series is that he shares what Republicans are destroying, but immediately shows what Dems are doing to counter it, and most of the time, it’s something Dems are actively working to make better rather than just back to how it was.

DNC
has a bilingual Know Your Voting Rights webinar training on Dec 4 at 6pm ET.
They explain:
The right to vote is a sacred and cherished idea — an essential part of our democracy. That’s why Democrats across the country are uniting to uphold democracy and protect every American’s fundamental right to vote. But we can’t do it alone.
I have never heard of this before and I think it’s so brilliant. It’s in conjunction with Latino Victory Fund and will take place just before the Miami Mayoral runoff which we have a very good chance of winning.
No, they didn’t post it everywhere, but it’s not secret either. It’s on their Substack, IG, and Slack, all of which you can easily find and sign up for.
This DNC is being super creative and we aren’t giving them enough credit for that.
So those are some of today’s fighters. I hope this post made you think twice about rolling your eyes at these tactics. This is all Dems using their leverage.
If you made it to the end, comment 🫄🏽(pregnant person) because all pregnant people should be released from ICE detention immediately.
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment 💧(water) because clean water is a human right!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
