Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 175
Today’s fighters include Rep Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) continuing to fight against the Texas gerrymandering, (CA) talking to republican Californians, and so much more!
This post is too long for email, so remember to click the title of the post, so you don’t miss anything (remember it’s too long because of links not text)
Rep Marylin Strickland (WA-10)
Is my Rep for this week. She is Black and Korean American. She is the first Korean American Democratic congresswoman and the first Black congresswoman in the entire Pacific Northwest.
Three weeks ago, she joined Rep Grace Meng (NY-06) for the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus YouTube series called, “Spill the Tea,” and she reposted it last week as well.
They discussed her Korean traditions and how tariffs are affecting her district.

DNC ( ) Secretary Jason Rae
Posted about how over the last two weeks, the DNC has been nominating a more diverse Standing Committee. They’ve held nominating elections in the Southern, Eastern, Midwestern, and Western regional caucuses. And the Disability, LGBTQ, Youth, Women’s, Native American, AAPI, Black and Hispanic identity-based caucuses. Because Chair Martin wants to make sure the DNCE is as reflective of the US as possible.
This is definitely something I wish was getting a whole lot more attention, and one of the major changes Chair Ken Martin is making that isn’t glamorous but is still extremely important.
Rep Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07)
Is the chair of the Texas Democratic congressional delegation, and therefore, she is responsible for the messaging surrounding the gerrymandering that would cheat Texas Democrats out of representation. Tomorrow she is holding a Zoom town hall along with Harris County District 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis and State Rep Jon Rosenthal (HD-135) to share the game plan for stopping the Texas steal.
You can watch the full press conference from five days ago at the US Capitol when the Texas reps found out. Which includes speeches from Leadership Reps: Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), Katherine Clark (MA-05), and Suzane Delbene (WA-01) and Texas Reps: Fletcher, Lloyd Doggett (TX-37) and Jasmine Crockett (TX-30)

Rep Emily Randall (WA-06)
Joined Washington Governor Bob Ferguson, tribal leaders, and local officials for a press conference at the site of the Indian Creek gasoline spill. Her focus is on the environment, the needs of the indigenous communities, and making sure they have the tools and support they need.

(CA-42)
Posted about Andry Romero being sent back to Venezuela. It’s a win that he’s out of CECOT, not a win that he’s back in the country he was trying to seek asylum from. Garcia will be working tirelessly to make sure he’s safe. You can also read a statement from Romero’s lawyer in this HRC press release.

Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25)
Joined by the rest of the FL Dem delegation: Reps Darren Soto (FL-09), Maxwell Frost (FL-10), Kathy Castor (FL-14), Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, Lois Frankel (FL-22), (FL-22), and Frederica Wilson (FL-24) introduced the “No Cages in the Everglades Act”
You can watch Wasserman Schultz's entire interview segment on the bill here.

And finally…
( CA)
Was on Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which I’m sure you know. What you probably don’t know is how the interview started. Stephen asked him how he communicates with Republican Californians, particularly farmers, when they have been trained to think he’s evil.
It certainly not as flashy as the clips you’ve been seeing, but I think it’s one of the most important parts of this interview.
So I hope you learned something from today’s post!
If you made it to the end, comment 🍉 (watermelon) it should be whole, but a slice will have to do. You’ll just have to watch the whole Colbert segment to get why
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment with ⛽️(a gas pump) because that is where that Washington truck should have ended up if it hadn’t spilled into Indian Creek.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

🍉 ⛽️ The 🍊💩 calling Senator Schiff Watermelon Head isn't the lowest of the lows, but it'sa juvenile insult that's best relegated to the playground.
🍉⛽️ Thanks for the info! And all your efforts to keep us informed.
