Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 293
As long as we fight against the broligarchy, we're gonna be okay.
No matter how good this post is, and it’s after 9pm, so I really wouldn’t get your hopes up, the video is better. Something just clicked, and you should really do yourself a favor and watch the video after reading the post.
Repping the Rep: Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07)
invited Liz Stein and Jess Michaels, two Epstein survivors to her swearing in. Because of how Speaker Johnson handled it, it quickly became about them, almost even more than it was about her and the Democratic party. And both Stein and Michaels explained that so well in an NBC interview with the three of them last week.
Rep Jared Golden (ME-02)
No, I can’t believe I just typed that either. The Epstein discharge petition wasn’t the only one making its way through the House. Golden had one too. His was about bringing his bill to the floor to reverse Trump’s executive order limiting the bargaining power of federal workers unions. It just got 218 signatures and is on its way to a vote in the next few weeks. If you’re wondering how he could be a Dem, this is one big reason.
Reps (VT), and Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03) and Sen Mazie Hirono (HI)
led an amicus brief supporting trans girls in sports. The brief was signed by 130 Dems across both bodies, which is more than double the amount that the Republican brief supporting a ban got.
Rep Ted Lieu (CA-36)
gave a TEDx Talk last month, but I only saw the clip he posted today. It’s all about the dangers of AI and the need for regulation, and frankly, exactly the kind of thing we want our Dems participating in and saying.
Sadly, the full 12 min TEDx Talk has less than 300 views. Hopefully I can help change that.
Apologies that this is a total speedrun. I hope you get something out of it regardless.
If you made it to the end of this post, comment 👨🏼🔧(worker) because, solidarity forever, union strong!
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment ⚽️ (the sports ball of your choice) cause trans women and girls belong in women and girls sports.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
