Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 182
Repping the Rep: Sylvia Garcia (TX-29)
Represents TX-29, one of the many Texas district Republicans are trying to gerrymander, which is why I chose her for this week’s Repping the Rep.
Last week, she spoke at the redistricting hearing, where she said she shouldn’t be there. None of them should, because the Texas legislators should be focusing on helping the flood victims.
You can watch her entire testimony and the rest of the hearing below.

Rep Josh Riley (NY-19)
Introduced a bill to stop price gouging during a crisis. This is the first time a bill like this has been introduced, but it’s not the first time I heard about it, because it was part of Kamala Harris’ economic plan. I’m glad someone in Congress is taking it on, even if I can’t pass this session.

Rep Bennie Thompson (MS-02)
Interns took over his Instagram to share how the SNAP cuts will affect them and their generation. Brilliant use of social media, in my opinion.
Rep Val Hoyle (OR-04)

The Dads’ Caucus, led by Rep Jimmy Gomez (CA-34)
Just introduced a six-bill package titled Babies Over Billionaires to help families deal with the Trump import tax. A different member introduced each bill.

Posted a timeline of DT’s grift to not release the Epstein files. It includes both clips and dates. I’d also like to mention on IG, Sen Tina Smith (MN) is a collaborator on this post, which I love, I think that’s a great way to amplify each other and I hope this becomes a regular thing

And finally…
(NM-01) spoke with Emilia Sykes (OH-13)
For her Gerrymandering and Voting Rights Series. Because Ohio is also doing mid-decade redistricting, and naturally, if Republicans get their way, the results will not help us. I will say that backfired on them last time, which is why we’re here now.
I love that Stansbury is doing this as a series. It’s more than just Texas, unfortunately.

So I hope you learned something new, and you get that just because you’re not hearing about them doesn’t mean they’re not fighting for us.
If you manage to the end of this post, comment with 😷 (mask) because no one should be able to use a crisis to make us pay more for the things we need to survive.
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment with 🗓️ (calendar) cause Mark Warner came with dates and receipts.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

Yay for Josh Riley—he’s my Rep, and I’m proud to have voted for him.
