Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 214
I’m just thinking about all the things I didn’t get to do over the last 24+ hours because I had to talk about Chorus (a program a love being apart of) all fucking day.
At least I’m still able to get this out for all of you (even though I couldn’t yesterday, sorry about that, blame Taylor Lorenz)
You can find Doomerella’s take at the end of this post.
Repping the Rep: Joe Courtney (CT-02)
stopped by NBC Connecticut’s Face the Facts to talk about everything from rural hospitals to military submarines.
He really explained the contents of TrumpCare clearly. Like this is what he said about hospital closures:
And during the, you know, the lead up to the vote, all hospital associations, whether it was children's hospitals, Catholic hospitals, the American Hospital Association, but particularly the safety net hospitals in rural America were the most vociferous about the fact that this was a really damaging bill in terms of just, you know, the long-term financial health of these institutions, and we do have rural areas, particularly in Eastern Connecticut, where, again, the percentage of Medicaid patients and Medicare patients are higher than suburban or even urban areas of Connecticut.
And broke down what Republicans did with the bill and why. It’s worth a watch, or you can read sections too.
Rep Lauren Underwood (IL-14)
Held a town hall in Oswego. She posted this clip all about what Republicans are destroying, and the camera pans to the audience, who are nodding along. It’s easy to forget that what performs best is the district, is not what performs best online. I know many people on social media want our electeds to stop talking about medicaid, but that’s what their district wants to hear, and, at the end of the day, that’s what matters.

Sen Tim Kaine (VA)
Breaks down everything having to do with TrumpCare for Health Care Day of Action, another unifying Day of Action from our Dems. The problem this time? I wouldn’t have even known about it if it wasn’t for this video. One massive reason we need chronological feeds back. Imagine if all the posts about this had just flooded your feed all that the same time. THEN you would see a unified message. Yet again, the algorithm plays a part in silencing our Dems.

Rep Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10)
Came up with a really creative way to talk about the USAID firings. Mena, his constituent, and a former USAID employee started flipping furniture, for some income, when she was fired.
She had a post get a bit of traction on IG, and Rep Subramanyam’s team saw it. So he joined her to paint a table while they talked about USAID.
What a great way to get people to pay attention!

And finally…
DNC Chair Ken Martin
reminds us all that when he says “organize everywhere so we can win anywhere,” he means it.
Chair Martin and the rest of the DNC sent 30k volunteers to Iowa to help Catelin Drey’s team and the Iowa Democrats get her elected, and what do you know, she was.
What I love the most is that he works with the local infrastructure doing what they need, not what he thinks they need, which is why these posts look different each time, the needs are different for every race.
So those are just some of our fighters, always remember, there are so many more that I don’t post than I do.
If you made it to the end of this post, comment (purple paint splotch), cause I just think what Rep Subramanyam did was so cool.
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment 🎭 (theater masks), cause Rep Underwood’s town hall took place in a theater, and I just want you to keep thinking about how the messaging that fits the district might not make sense for social media.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

your reports of positive action are keeping a lot of us afloat, chin above the rising water.
