Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 307
I've never seen her this angry...
I’m really happy with these fighters. I mean, of course I am, I chose them. But some days the fights I find in my nightly search are better than others, and I think today qualifies, especially the last one.
Repping the Rep: (IL-05)
leveraged his letterhead to try to get answers from DHS on their Chicago raid 3 weeks ago.
Usually we hear about these letters and unless something changed because of the letters, we never hear what happened.
But Rep Quigley? He didn’t get an answer in the time he gave the DHS to respond, so now he’s written a statement and won’t stop until he gets the answers he seeks.
Three weeks ago, I led the entire Illinois House Democratic delegation in calling for Inspector General Joseph Cuffari to investigate misconduct, requiring a response by November 21, 2025. That date has come and gone, with no word from Cuffari. In the meantime, federal courts have investigated hundreds of warrantless arrests and found widespread inappropriate use of force in my city.
The more we talk about this, the more likely he gets his answers, or more likely the more leverage we give him to continue escalating the demand.

Rep Suzan DelBene (WA-01) with DCCC
launched Our Power, Our People, a new investment focused on the AANHPI, Black, Latino and Rural voting populations. This is their earliest investment in a midterm election to date.
Their focus will be in better research and polling data, and well as on the ground grassroots efforts and paid media.
Rep DelBene said:
As House Republicans are raising costs, ripping away people’s health care, and standing idly by while their party strips voting power from communities of color in order to rig the midterms, and in the face of reckless tariffs and attacks on Medicaid that are hurting rural communities, this program will help ensure our message of lowering costs and protecting affordable health care breaks through with these key voting blocs.
I know a lot of people are wary of the DCCC, but no matter what you think of them, you have to admit, this is a step in the right direction. These communities need to see we are paying attention, and it seems like the Congressional Campaign Committee knows that too.
Excited to see how this pays off.

Rep Lateefah Simon (CA-12)
joined the Progressive Caucus as a cosponsor of their ICE abuses bill package. The package includes bills that would stop ICE from pretending to be police, make sure their badges and faces are visible at all times, and DHS can’t fund them if they don’t comply and so much more.
Of course it won’t go anywhere now, but, if we take back power in 2027 this will fly through the House and Senate.
Remember, our Dems don’t have power to make this happen, but they do have the leverage of introducing bills, so they’re gonna keep doing that, and these are some incredible ones.

Rep Julie Johnson (TX-32)
has been creeping up on my list of favorite Dems for a while now. She’s typically more quiet than the names you follow most closely, but she’s the only queer member of the Texas congressional delegation and she was a firebrand during the redistricting fight.
But, I have never seen her this angry.
Arlington Texas is, apparently, considering rolling back their LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination ordinance, thanks to pressure from Abbott, but don’t worry, you have power to stop it, as Rep Johnson explains in this video.
Honestly, I can’t properly describe how this video makes me feel because it’s just that forceful. If she is getting this worked up, you know this is something that matters a whole lot. And I haven’t seen anyone else talk about it, so I’m so glad she’s bringing attention to something not getting any.
If you live in Arlington, please make sure your voice is heard that you are vehemently against this. It really might make a difference!

So those are some of today’s fighters. I hope you also feel excited by these names and make sure to follow them, cause they’re doing amazing work.
If you made it to the end of this post, comment 👮🏻(police officer) because with this package, ICE wouldn’t be allowed to pretend to be them anymore.
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment 😡 (angry emoji) cause I want more of this energy from Rep Johnson and other Dems too!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
