Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 212
Did I get distracted because we won Iowa? yes, yes I did.
Clearly Dems are doing something right cause there were elections tonight and we won a lot of them including breaking the Republican super majority in the Iowa Senate!
And if people are wrong about Dem election prospects, maybe, just maybe, they’re wrong about Dems not doing the work too.
Here are some of my favorite stories today!
Repping the Rep: Joe Courtney (CT-02)
Visited Vernon Rehab and Healthcare Center to learn about how TrumpCare will affect their care.

DNC ()
Daily Blueprint was an interview with former Washington Governor, and current People’s Cabinet member, Jay Inslee. And he’s right about everything. He says that Trump’s war on solar and wind energy hurts us in both the long and short run. Wind and solar can literally be brought online faster than coal, and, these jobs, which have been in red states, are now being shipped off to China, so there’s not a single upside for this argument.
Rep Maggie Goodlander (NH-02)
Met with some small organic family farms to learn how to build a better farm bill that helps small farms and how the Trump Income Tax is affecting them. One of the farmers said that they all get their netting from Canada, and if they can’t afford that, they’re in trouble.
Rep Goodlander came away from the day saying “I got some great ideas today that are really gonna motivate me in my work in the days ahead.”
This is why these in district work periods are so important. In DC you can kind of lose track of the needs of your individual district, but when you’re hearing their stories in person, it’s different.

Rep Mark Takano (CA-39), Rep Ted Lieu (CA-36) and Sen Jeff Merkley (OR)
Led an amicus brief with 167 Dem Reps and 20 Dem Sens urging the Supreme Court not to reverse Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy, which they agreed to hear back in March.
If you don’t see that your electeds have signed on, that’s okay, they can’t see everything on the first pass.
Just call their office and ask if they will. I’m sure, in most cases, the answer will be yes.

Rep Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03)
held a town hall at the New Mexico LULAC state convention. And she posted this clip talking about some of the amendments Dems tried to add to the Republican Rate Hike. As you can hear in the audience, they didn’t know.
It’s just a really important reminder of the kind of bubble we are in and why it’s not helpful to comment on an elected’s post saying “WE ALREADY KNOW THAT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT?”
Cause you might, but even super politically aware people, like those in LULAC, don’t.

And finally…
Rep Veronica Escobar (TX-16)
held another Commuting with Your Congresswoman. She works with the city of El Paso and the Sun Metro to find a bus that she can hold a mobile town hall in. Not everyone has the time for or a way to get to a town hall, so she’s bringing it to them.
Isn’t that so cool?

So I hope you enjoyed learning about our fighters today!
If you made it to the end of this post comment with 🗳️ (ballot box) cause we won a major race today and every time we can elect another fighter we make our opposition stronger.
And if you watched or read any of these stories, comment 🚌 (bus) cause I REALLY love Rep Escobar’s creativity!
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!

Boom! I am so grateful for how you school me about the fighters in the Democratic Party, and the places where they/we are winning. I really hope there is a way to fight back against the cancellation of almost-completed windfarms and rescinding of funding for solar farms. (Ballot box) (bus) Go Veronica Escobar! I should make sure my rep (Suzan Delbene) knows about the bus idea, public transit is a huge issue in our region and I know she has been a supporter. Also: I didn't catch where I could see the list of all the signatories on the amicus brief. I'll keep looking, but do you have a link or a list? Thanks again!!
Terrific! Loved the suggestion not to flame incumbent reps for repeating info that many of their constituents might not know about. I've been regularly surprised to see "likes" for my posts show up many weeks after I posted them and well past the first flurry of enthusiasm.
