Daily Dems Doing the Work, Making Noise and Fighting Back Day 309
How does it always get to be so late? Well today that’s partially because it’s election night. I know you’re probably disappointed, but please remember this puts any district that is R +12 into play for 2026, and that’s HUGE. And hopefully these fighters also make your night a bit better.
Repping the Rep: (IL-05)
is one of the vice chairs of the Equality Caucus, and the caucus is spotlighting each of the vice chairs.
They highlighted how he helped found the Trans Equality Taskforce in 2015(bet you didn’t know that was a thing), led the successful effort to get the FDA to drop the ban on gay and bi men donating blood, and made sure last year’s appropriations bill didn’t include ending funding for LGBTQ+ centers.
He is an incredible rep, and that’s why it befuddles me so much that some other progressive is trying to primary him. He’s one of the really good ones. And I hope, by the end of the week, you see that too.

Rep George Latimer (NY-16)
has created Citizen Task Forces which will help him make decisions on important issues. It will be chaired by constituent who is an expert in the given field. To start with, at least, these fields are
Energy & Environment
Infrastructure
Intergovernmental
Veterans Affairs
Foreign Policy & Military Affairs
Jobs & Economy
Social Services
As much as so many of our electeds like to pretend they know everything, it’s very cool to see a rep that is willing to say, I’m not the expert in these things so I want to hear from the people who are so I can make more informed decisions.
In a statement, Latimer said:
When people think of Washington, they think of a concept in a faraway place that is out of reach and out of touch with everyday Americans. That is not how I have operated in my decades in public service. I have always sought community involvement and spend every day not in Washington meeting with residents in Westchester and the Bronx. Therefore, I am excited to bring the legislative process to my district.
I know many people already had preconceived notions of him before he even entered office, but I hope, seeing something like this is exceeding your expectations, at least a bit.
Rep Chellie Pingree (ME-01)
posted a great overview of the week ahead. It just feels like she’s your friend on facetime explaining her plans, but it’s explained so concisely and simply, that even your least politically aware friends could follow it and be infuriated.

Rep Maxine Dexter (OR-03)
went to Paisanos Plaza, a space for many vendors to sell their goods, but ever since the ICE raids they’ve lost most of their customers and many vendors too. They’re just too scared to leave their home.
There hasn’t been that much focus on the economic effects of these kidnappings, so I really love that she took that angle. This disgusting behavior affects our communities in so many ways.

So those are some of today’s fighters. And we WILL get more in the midterms. Don’t lose hope just because we didn’t win tonight. We over performed in such a major way!
If you made it to the end of this post comment 🏳️⚧️ (trans flag) cause I think so many need the constant reminder that Dems do care about the trans community.
And if you watched or read any of these stories comment ⚕️(healthcare symbol) because our next big fight is the ACA bills in the next two weeks.
Our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
