A Friendly Reminder

The best way to ensure Gavin Newsom becomes the Democratic nominee for the 2028 presidency is to keep talking about him as if he already is.

Oh, you don’t want that?

So…why keep bringing it up?

By talking about it you’re giving him presidential candidate press, and he’s not even asking for it.

We don’t even need to begin thinking about 2028 till AFTER November, and, guess what, it’s another tactic to depress Democratic turnout THIS YEAR.

Right now, Newsom is the Governor of California. He’s done some incredible things and some not so great things, and I’m looking forward to the end of his term (though super nervous for the Governors race.)

We can’t even begin to think about an election that is two and a half years away when we can’t even get people to agree that we will have elections in November (which, we will.)

If you want to talk about why Newsom sucks right now, in regards to the fact that he’s California governor, that’s one thing, but connecting it to his chances in 2028?

People are already making posts saying they won’t vote for the Dem if it’s Newsom…It’s a year away, why are we even talking about it?

Who knows who might show that they have what it takes? We certainly don’t. We don’t know anything right now, and guess what, we’re not supposed to.

But if you’re focused on 2028, you’re not focusing on November and we won’t get the vote out in the way we need.

People are already deciding the DNC will endorse him in the primary (they don’t do that,) and already considering not voting at all. Do you get that that’s a tactic?

Republicans know they can’t win on their platform, they know they’re unpopular, so they do everything they can to keep people concerned about and angry with Democrats.

Please stop falling for it.

If someone is talking about 2028, either,

a. they’re not being serious or taking politics seriously

b. they just want a post they make to go viral.

Neither are good reasons to pay attention to them.

Focus on 2026, and in most cases, the primary, not the general. And remember the primary is about Dems running against each other (for the most part.) Stop acting like only the less progressive one is a Democrat and therefore Democrats are evil. That doesn’t help us either.

Remember, our voices are our superpower, but only when we use them!
